Ahh, okay. I had problems installing WMF 5.1 in SetupComplete some time ago and I moved it out to the OOBE stage. I guess I need to do the rollup at the end with the exception of KB2970228 to be safe, right?

WMF 5.1 require .NET 4.5.2 or later anyway

why don't you integrate KB2970228? Either the rollup or KB3078601 is needed before/with it

MSE and WD use the same malware definitions updates, so they can detect all the same malwares, but of course WD is more robust in W8.1 and W10 against vulnerabilities, because it can use some hardware and kernel features to detect and block these things, anyway an older OS that does not receive updates anymore is always condemned to become more vulnerable with the flow of the years and also AVs companies stop giving support for that obsolete OS.

I really don't care about what others opinions are about something, I always prefer make my own opinion testing things by myself, so I just test software by myself and I also contribute reporting malware or vulnerabilities, so I have enough experiency about different AVs efficiency, and thats why I recommend it, but I'm not saying that MSE is the best or that M$ is fully trustable, you are just mixing different things.

The wim I use doesn't contain any Rollups or cuml. updates that will most likely be replaced down the line. I reuse the wim as a base for installing and add the variables during installation. .NET472 is also installed in SetupComplete.

MSE is NOT Windows Defender. Go do some research before you spread FUD. The current Windows Defender that's built into Windows 10 is light years ahead of that old useless MSE.

MSE may not be the most efficient antivirus yet among the free options available is not so bad. From my personal experience Avast and AVG are not reliable they let viruses pass easily without detection at the time, can even detect later but can not remove. And Avira was already a good antivirus its detection is among the best but is currently very heavy and with many false positives and also has nag screens.

I do not like Windows Defender I still prefer MSE but I prefer either of 2 than the free antivirus currently available.

    I have not experienced.
MSE vs WD it's a big difference - detectability and functionality.

So they've improved since I tested. I hope so because I really liked Avira but I lost patience with it because every new version only got heavier and annoying so it's been a long time since I tested it.
