Yeah it is a bit of a mess! Thats why I thought I would mention it. Any idea why there are up to 4 versions of supposedly the same file?
First of all KB article doesnt even match with hotfix... KB article is mentioing files build 6.1.7600.20738, while v2 of the hotfix have files build 6.1.7600.20747. And no no idea why they would be metioned multiple times.
Microsoft-Windows-Win32k 6.1.7600.16608/6.1.7600.29731 ttp://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=982635
Ye i know im kinda waiting when they will block me with firewall as well... :s i hope that day wont happen I have multiple choices tho, i could use multiple connections on my router (like neighbour wireless and/or another of mine with dynamic ip) and route traffic to support.ms over that ones, use vpn/proxy... but for some reason i just cant be bothered... i seriously hope they wont block me edit: oh ye and thanks for the hotfix (didnt have this one since i just started new scan pass), hope this win32k fixes all this random bluescreens with nvidia 258+ drivers that im having when card enters low clock mode.
Well script is currently made to only scan for Win7. I wanted to add Office2010 but then i noticed that Office have every app on its own and obviously i have no idea what exact strings i need to search for, since only few updates are officaly avilable and not for every app.
SoloR great thank's !!! Nice work on Win7 HotFix... and works wonderful Bios Asus Rampage Formula (much better with rom intel 9.6)!!
Office updates are a little different to Windows updates. Both Office 2007 and 2010 use a similar update system. The updates and hotfixes reside in an exe file, where you accept the licence terms. These updates contain .msp files which can be extracted using 7-zip and run individually. When each Office 2007 and 2010 update is released, it of course receives a new KB article number, even if its updating the same files. The .msp files contained within however, retain the same name. The hotfixes are now usually released with name updateprogram-x-none.msp where updateprogram is the affected program, such as Access, or components thereof, example Ace. If there are updates released through Microsoft download, they forego the -x-none part and just have the updateprogam.msp Usually at each hotfix cycle there are multiple exe files updating different components of Office. For example, one update may just contain Access-x-none.msp, whilst another update contains that same file, plus Ace-x-none.msp to update that component. Of course, if you want to get all the hotfixes you have to choose the updates to cover all components. The KB article contains the information regarding which .msp file the update contains, and what files those .msp files update and their versions. The worst thing to do would just to be keep the exe files without extracting these .msp files as you would easily lose track of where you are up to. Due to the nature of the Office 2007 and Office 2010 updates, it is much easier to keep track of manually than Windows 7. When installing, the .msp files can be batch run.
yes im also sure that individual ?-x-none updates do not replace eachother, since they still will update different files (you can open .msp with archiver and see what files gets updated, so it would become even bigger pain in the ass to run list of updates). So those msp files should be properly taged with KB number. Also currently i only saw hotfixes for Access, Excel, Outlook, Project, Publisher and Word... few of apps still mising hotfixes.
Installed the X64 Pack, Went to reboot, stuck at, Configuring windows updates, 15% complete. Stuck for about 10 minutes, the little circle wasn't spinning or anything, turned off PC anyway. Rebooted, stuck at 15% again. Any ideas?
