Ye single updates are still uploading, zips are already uploaded there is also new update script, its not so sophisticated as bufadels, but should force install LDR branch only...
It wouldnt be... i would bet this is still only like half (or maybe 2/3 at best) of all updates avilable.
SOLOR, thanks for new updates. I noticed you moved orange updates to a folder of its own. It look a lot cleaner now. EDIT: I think we dont need KB958488 as well. It looks like windows 7 sp1 already contains updated version of files included in KB958488. File versions of KB958488 is 4.0.31106.0 while the same files in windows 7 sp1 have version of 4.0.40305.0 and if you check the files like dfshim.dll and other files included in KB958488 in system32 and SysWOW64 folder you will see that windows is using the newer files included in windows 7 sp1 even if KB958488 is installed.
Careful; I tried to install .NET4 once in sysprep (Windows Ultimate x64 SP1 integrated by M$-WZor), but, accidentally forgot to install 958488 first and the install completely failed in every respect-if there was errors to be had it showed it. I have not tried that since soooo........Of course, I'm no expert at this either..... UPDFATE: .NET 4 installs fine on an M$ integrated image without 958488-just did it in a VHD.
Just to clarify, if I'm slistreaming the repo should the LDR placeholders be integrated first before any of the other >145 updates? Thanks
Ya', I just tried it myself-my way and their's; the file size is the same in en-us and it is for the Chinese language, so, I don't know. I'm going to leave it out for now and google the livin' heck out of it until I get some answers.
Thank you SoLoR for sorting out all the updates. As for the new update script, can we use this both for integration as well as installation on a live system, or how does this work? I always integrate my updates but would like the LDR branch force installed as you say but I am not sure how to achieve this. Thanks...
We know, no worries SoLoR; I usually try to find the KB's for the manual ones just to know how to integrate them....no biggy. Now, it's mainly curiousity is all; so I'll search untill I satisfy it.
Well actually you dont need them if you are going to force ldr integration however if for any reason you want to integrate them you can integrate them in any order you want it doesnt make any difference.
I tryed to install .net 4.0 with .msi and integrated hotfixes without KB958488 and it installed just fine....
With the installer, I was trying to make it so you had a choice from a menu with integrating. The first choice is the easier to implement, in just specifying the location of the mounted wim file but you having to do the rest (this is pretty much what people were expecting). The second option would have been to mount the image (off the drive), with index listing, integrating (as with option 1), and commit but thats just a little overboard! I'll stick with the simpler option and the other steps will still need to be done via the method people normally use I'll try and get that up and done in the next day, and will have a test version for people to try. If there aren't any issues or there are things people would like to see different with it, I'll see what I can do, and get it finalised.
I think the answer is in the image that Ricksteele used KB958488 is a RTM update, and what we typically use is Microsoft original SP1 Windows 7 ISO. Using an SP1 integrated ISO (that is, a Windows 7 RTM ISO with the SP1 integrated into it post Microsoft release) the situation regarding KB958488 might be different...
