Thanks for that, but is there the solution for this kind of problem in general? I don't want to keep bugging everyone each time I can't find what fix replaced the other. I tried Google, but with little success. Is there a list maintained somewhere that might contain this useful information? Thanks Edit: Other ones I'm having trouble finding: - KB2502285 replaced by ???????? - KB2484033 replaced by ???????? - KB2485376 replaced by KB2507618 (found this one)
Code: Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. I will need some additional information in order to create a case and provide you the Hotfix: Email address you want the Hotfix sent to: xxxx-xxxxxx@xxxxxx.xxx Telephone: xxx xxx xxxx Country: Canada Company Name: Personal Desktop Operating System, Version and x86 or 64bit: Windows 7 Ultimate x86 SP1 Language Version: English Once I have these details, I will be able to determine the appropriate resources to assist you. I appreciate your patience and look forward to your reply. I just got the above 5 minutes ago-that request was for the x86 version, still waiting for a response on the x64-fingures crossed.
I don't want to half do it. I may eventually use the updatepack, but right now I am playing with DXIntegrator and just want to see how WU reacts to what I have integrated. For example, If WU offers KB2509553 and I integrate KB2520155, will that satisfy WU? I don't need the whole updatepack for that. I'm just testing and trying to learn as I go along. I hope you now have a better understanding for these ppl. Besides, SoLor must have some automated method for determining when a fix is removed/replaced. If he does this manually then my hat is off to him. I would go crazy checking each new patch that comes in against the already 146 fixes in the repository. No one seems willing to reveal how these replacements are determined.
I am doing it manualy and i do get crazy sometimes when there are many updates... I was considering to create some kind of automated method, but thing its not bad when there are only few updates at once so at the end i never bother. However back in the days when there where montly zukobonuses (or even worse once there where like 2 or 3 zukobonuses at once) i was going CRAAAZY on that day.
I am keeping a text files listing all the binary files included in each of the hotfixes this way whenever a new hotfix releases I just extract it and compare file versions of included files with my list. This way I can easily determine if a hotfix is superceded or not. I am attaching my current list here hoping it would be useful. View attachment 9202
Very nice list. Thank you for sharing. I'm curious as to how you derived your list. If I unpack say, Windows6.1-KB2425227-x86.msu and the cab files contained within, I do not see the kerberos.dll that you have listed. Thanks again for sharing.
(amd64-wow64) indicates that there are two versions of the binary file in the hotfix one 64-bit (amd64) and one 32-bit (wow64). I take the description text from the knowledge base article if available.
This seems to be a typical MS-reply: "Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. With regards to your HotFix request, I would like to inform you that the HotFix described in the article number KB2529073 is currently unavailable."
