My windows 7 suddenly started showing blank icons only in my Download folders. if i move a file from my downloads folder to somewhere else it wont fix the problem i tried doing the CMD.exe tut "cd %userprofile%\appdata\local del iconcache.db /a exit" that worked for 2 mins and then it appeared again I tried going into Regedit and deleting the "user choice" folder but that didn't have any effect at all. thats what my downloads folder looks like at the moment I've tried restarting my computer and that works but after 1 minute it comes back, i tried scanning for viruses and have gotten rid of them but that didn't do anything Can someone please help me?
Try to rebuild the iCon cache. Just go to Task Manager and click Explorer.exe then end process. File menu - New Task - (type) CMD.EXE then ok. Lastly Task Manager -File - New Task - (type) EXPLORER.EXE then ok
I had a problem similar to yours a couple of years ago and I had caused it. It dealt with a mod to remove the shortcut's arrow. For whatever reason, in my system, doing whatever mod I did to have the arrow NOT show turned all shortcut icons solid black. I reversed the mod and once again I had normal shortcut icons. Memory is a bit fuzzy but I think I was using "Ultimate Windows Tweaker".
