I think your guide looks really nice jlgager. I did some search here at the forum and found a similar guide that covered this: Code: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7850-Installing-Windows-7-From-USB-Drive-3-Steps-Easy-Process and Code: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7126-The-Official-Windows-7-Repository See section Part 3 of 4: Install Windows 7 which also provides the link to the above. Though I must say I think you got it a little more covered and detailed. Great work.
No unfortunately not, I'm just lurking around over there. It's a great forum though no question about it, great posts about everything. I usually hang around here for most part.
A couple of Win 7 pre-installation questions. 1) In the MDL website to download the 3 files prior to installation, it is not clear whether this is an upgrade or a full installation kit. 2) If it is a full installation kit, does anyone know whether Microsoft licensing checks whether the activation key is valid for an upgrade or a brand new (full) installation? In my case, I bought an upgrade key and but would like to install Win 7 in a completely new partition if possible as my XP system is running nicely without problems. Thanks.
So its not clear what it is? 1: Full of course... 2: what? then do a new install and use your key. No problemo eh?
Thanks for giving the loader a mention but just one thing, I changed it's name from "Windows 7 Loader" to plain "Windows Loader" due to it's Vista and Server compatibility
So if I install Windows 7 on my friend's computer and they are currently running Vista, I can select to upgrade and they'll be able to keep all of their stuff?
