Thanks a lot. I have downloaded all updates since SP1 as separate downloads. Fortunately, I am just finishing up setting up a VM and will use this package. Then check what is left and keep it. If it works, I can delete the separate installers and save me time (perhaps not disk space) on a fresh install at some time in the future.
These updates seem to be missing from a fresh install of windows 7 enterprise x64 on 20-Dec-2011. Anyway, even with what it is, saves a lot of time. Are u sure u installed all the updates? Most of them are in the folder "Important Updates". I will re-check just in case. I Think i miss 2 secondary updates (1 of them is for XPS Print improvement) Thanks
Maybe I did not, but I ran it twice. The missed updates were all ticked except for kb971033. One more thing: in the update folder I did not see any updates dated Dec 10-12, 2011 for Dec 2011 updates. Second: Overall I find it very useful and time saving, but I could not be bothered to download the entire 160 MB for x64 every month. I can however download later updates (say Jan 2012) from MS. Is this the solution: Put the Jan 2012 (and later) updates in the folder critical/important (would it matter if they should be put in the correct folder ie to say I put all say 1/2012 updates in critical folder). Then run cmd for critical and important. Final: Important updates installed in a flash say 5 secs while critical updates took their time. Could this be the reason why I am still getting these updates.
You mean to tell me you don't have 5 min to download that once a month? Even the President has that much time. Damn!!!!!!
KB971033 is windows activation update (this is up to you, to install or not) (You can download this patch and put in "Critical updates", do this if you want to include this patch in the package) Yes, Important updates are not installing in your computer... When you extract the zip file make sure you have 2 folders "Critical Updates" and "Important Updates", and 2 .cmd files outside those folders. Run Important updates as Administrator. (As seen on the screenshot @ my first page) Dont worry, i will release 2012 patches as addon updates (one small package for every month)
I solved the problem of missing updates by putting all the important updates in critical updates and then running cmd again. Some observations: 1. cmd for critical needs to be run 1-3 times for all updates to be installed. I reboot when cmd shows no progress after 4-5 mins and then run cmd again. 2 end result is all (maybe 1-2) updates are installed saving time (I had all updates earlier anyway but on a fresh reinstall, clicking the large ones and installing took time). 3. I can from now on download Jan 2012 updates and further from MS and just install them or let windows update auto. On a fresh install/VM, I can put them in the critical updates Seeing the apparent success, can I ask if net 4.0 patch file includes net 4.0+updates or only updates. I can reckon perhaps 10 updates with the last one being 2572078 of oct 2011. Installing them separately on a fresh install takes at least 15-20 mins.
There is a link for Net 4.0 Setup and the other links are for critical updates packages (Net 4.0) So, no setup is included in the updates of Net 4.0
Yeh you will need to install SP1 then use this wonderful little program to install everything post SP1
I ran this program on a new preinstalled Dell Laptop on 31-12-2011. Deleted all partitions (dell), installed windows 7 professional x64 and then ran the program. One may have to run the program twice with run, let it run, reboot, and then let it run. But it saved me a lot of time downloading from windows update. I have a folder for windows updates but this programs beats manually clicking on each update, agreeing to run, and then checking the progress of install. Just auto unattended install saves a lot of hassle. After doing this, maybe missed 1-2 updates of <10MB which were done by windows update. Good work and Happy New Year (now perhaps all across the world except perhaps in western US and even west)
Thanks I have updated the download links with "Microsoft Late December Updates" If you dont want to download the whole package again then you can download the x86 and x64 critical patch here: KB2656356 (8mb). This patch is a late december 2011 update for Framework 3.5.1 Happy New Year

I have just installed Win7 on my new PC, I installed the offline updates and also ran the post SP1 updates using the latest files from page 1, but Windows update is telling me that I still have 11 important updates to install. I didn't think I would need to install any further security updates after installing this?
