Hi, My wife has a Asus Netbook with Intel Atom N270 & Intel 945GSE / ICH7-M. Now the Windows 7 Starter version is supposed to be specially for "small laptops".... But before I start installing this, how is the speed compared with Win XP home, as she has now? Someone already tried Win7 on a netbook, like the Asus EEE ??
if ur wife 's laptop dsnt have decent configuration then stick on xp it s best, if notebook have 2 GB or more RAM then it s good to load win7.
Should be enough for the Starter Edition (to confirm), but with XP Home you'll have less limitations as Seven Starter.
I have a Asus Eee PC 900 Linux Version, which is only 900Mhz 1 GB RAM 4+16 GB SSD. I found a copy of this W7_7600.16385_EN_eee_pc.iso and it's working fine, it's faster than u can imagine. It's the faster SSD drive u have to install , that's the 4GB SSD . First u have to install to the 16 SSD and cloned to the 4 SSD. And the rest of the programs u need into the 16 SSD after that. You also can use vlite to make a copy of Windows 7, but I had tried and can never get it to have drive space of less than 3 GB installed on the "C" drive.
I have windows 7 ULTIMATE on my acer D150 netbook (N270 Atom, 1gb, same graphics like yours, 160gb HDD) and it runs really good! no lags, no long loading times. runs like xp, very fast. i'll use it in future, and i wont use xp anymore... therefore i'll upgrade to 2gb RAM, thats it! i didnt need to install any driver, everything works out of the box perfectly. aero is enabled! Windows Experience rates my system like this: Processor: 2,3 RAM: 4,5 Graphics: 2,1 Gaming Graphics: 3,0 HDD: 5,5
I have W7 Ultimate in my EeePC 1000H (mod bios to activate) and it runs pretty well... Much better than with Win XP. The score is: Processor: 2,4 RAM: 4,6 Graphics: 2,1 Gaming Graphics: 3,0 HDD: 5,5 I have a Atom 1.6GHz (N270), 2GB ram, 160GB 5400rpm... The battery lasts for 7h in idle and aroun 4h30, 5h in full load.
