KB975538 makes some problems with some download managers like JDownloader, Free Download Manager and more. They all freezes totally when they start any download. If you uninstall the patch, the problems are away ...

KB975538 is Windows-Audio-AudioCore, KB976538 is Windows-NTFS, it doubtful audio-core would cause problems so i think he made a typo :)

Jdownloader works fine, its just the settings need to be changed. Maximum connections only works on '1', but maximum downloads works fine even on 20. So therefore, you can download 20 files at a time, but not multiple segments of the same file. Freedownloadmanager I've had no such problems and it works fine even with 20 connections on any one file.

George King, will you remove this problematic update (KB976538) on the next version?

I've had problems with jDownloader too.

    Thanks for your work.

    Just spotted these this morning.

Installed X86 on lappy, quite a large update pack this month, the configuring windows update after rstart takes a longish time.

    80 plus updates for x86
    90 plus updates for x64.

i`ll never understand the cause of installing updates that were never released by ms.
do a clean install of win 7 and you`ll get only 12-15 updates via ms update.
whats the reason for those updates, what will they fix?

Is there any method to speed up the update process... ?
Somehow updating the whole pack takes more than 3 hours for me, and just getting slower.
Using update tool 1.3.2 with x64 pack...

It does get slower after installing a lot of updates, I noticed that a long time ago under Vista. The best thing to do is to break the updates up into batches of around say 40 or 50 (around the point where it starts to slow down, or at least thats what I noticed), and restart after each batch.

If you think it's bad just doing the update wait till you see how your machine will slow down once they are installed.

Your computer won't be slower with them installed, although a cleanup and defrag is recommended after installing all these updates. You can simply use disk cleanup, just don't forget to clean up system restore points in disk cleanup 'more optons' tab if you have it enabled. After doing this defrag with a reasonable defragger (especially one that optimises system files).
