Its true that some updates only apply to Server 2008 R2, however some updates listed as 'Server 2008 R2' still cover files that are present in Windows 7. The same applies to updates for Server 2008 and Vista. If the update only covers files that aren't present in Windows 7 (and same for Vista and 2008), then it won't install. Otherwise, it will install and work properly, and most updates for Server 2008/2008 R2 will also cover Vista/7.
BTW you should move KB975762 and KB972831-v3 to UnNeeded because there are already KB975762-v2 and KB972831-v4...
What's the point to install every single update, especially hot fixes? AFAIK they are meant for special cases. FYI I'm not trolling or flaming or whatever, I'm just ass king.
there is no point thats true and once MS actualy will release more then currently 5? updates on WU ill reformat and go with WU updates from that point on. Altho in all honesty, SP1 beta incoming dec/jan, so i might not have chance.
George King, I have downloaded the packs V1.0.8b, Could you provide another small Packcage only including the newly added or updated updates that are not in the previous packs? This can save much time for downloading, as you know, the packs V1.0.9 are larger than 170M. Thanks a lot!
My versions of the Update Packs: UPDATE 31.10.2009 - Added - KB890830(Malicious Software Removal);KB947821(Servicing Store winsxs inconsistency fix);KB954430(Security Update for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2) Updated - KB974431(Reliability Update).WU was offering this although i had 974431 installed so i grabbed possibly a newer 974431 from WU database Removed - Nothing x64: x86: Contains all known updates minus RSAT(Not many need this) and IE Addons(Few use N versions and those who do wont install this anyway) Does not contain 974333 as it cant be properly installed anyway Contains some updates that can be considered unneended(3 or 4) Updates are installed by size:Biggest first,Smallest last Requires only 2 keystrokes. All else is automatic Skips already installed updates so no need to worry about that x86 contains 81 updates and x64 contains 83 updates x64 and x86 both tested and working Enjoy
