Officially yes.I think most of the updates are meant only for RTM

As far as integrating goes no problems here(Win7 x64 RTM)

did i need to slipstream the updates in every x64 and x86 version, or i need only one version (eg Basic)??

If you use Home Basic, you need slipstream into Home Basic. If you want to have fully up-2-date for all edition, you need slipstream it into all editions...

Having the same problem on an acer laptop and a gigabyte PC both running win7 Ultimate x32, just stops at about 50%.

Yes, I had very similar problem. I downloaded the kb976098 and started updating... The progress bar had frozen at 0%! I was waiting for 1.5 hours :(

The only solution is to uninstall third-party firewall/antivirus/atispyware program. I've uninstalled COMODO Internet Security (stopping network activity is insufficient!) and the kb976098 update have been installed succesfully.

    P. S. My OS is Win 7 Pro x64.

Looks like Comodo is the problem I did close it down when i first had the problem obviously that is not enough so uninstalled it and kb976098 installed. :)

Yes, indeed! When I encountered the problem, I even tried calling Microsoft technical support service because I didn't know what to do with this  I had no ideas and did not suspect COMODO since all the previous updates and service packs had installed successfully into my system (I run Windows 7 since October 22). Then I tried to google and flound some interesting info (prevoiusly I've read error codes in the list of unsuccessful updates). Some third-party firewalls may prevent installation of certain updates :(
