Have you updated all indexes? If the same file exists in all indexes then it will only be stored once, so when you update all of them it only needs to store the newer files.

    Hey folks,

I noticed something odd in relation to language packs on Windows 7 Ultimate English x64.

In the case of the previous builds of SP1 (beta and RC), the installation process warned me that I needed to remove an existing language pack (Brazilian Portuguese) before it could continue.

With the RTM version of SP1, however, I receive no warning. After installation of the service pack, the language pack is still installed and appears to be functioning properly. Can anybody else confirm that the older language packs (if installed before SP1) still work correctly?

I have Norwegian Language Pack installed amd with WIN7 RTM SP1 Wave1 it is now available again. One thing to note, on Windows Update the language Packs are not available to download, that will come in time.

So if you do a fresh install of the original WIN7 RTM before applying the new SP1, make sure you install the language pack you require BEFORE installing SP1 :)

Just a heads up: Slipstreaming with Se7en_UA as opposed to RT7 Lite makes no difference...backup files are still roughly 900mb on 64 bit installation, and they cannot be deleted through the Disc Cleanup wizard nor via command line. Personally, I've rolled back and am going to tough it out for official integrated. So much drama and excitement over a lousy service pack. LOL. But here I am, right in the fray!:p

you are talking about files stored in the image correct? not on drive you used to slipstream it with? sorry if it is stupid question

Nah, that's not a stupid question. I mean after slipstreaming SP1, then customizing with RT7 Lite, and then installing the resulting image onto disc, you cannot delete the backup files. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to remove the backup files from the image after slipstreaming. I've tried to remove them with "DISM /image:<path> /cleanup-image /spsuperseded" but that didn't pan out.

For anyone getting the 0x800f0a12 error...
I was able to get it working by assigning a drive letter to the "System Reserved" partition. Apparently, in my situation, bcdedit.exe wasn't able to access the boot configuration store(which is on the reserved partition). And thus, exiting the sp1 installer. Hope this helps!

    I'm still getting this error:
Exactly which file is missing? I've already run the system readiness tool, but I keep getting the same error. Does this error mean there is something wrong with my laptop, or is there something wrong with the SP1 file?

Highly unlikely that there's something wrong with SP1.
(Verify the checksum on WZor's page to ensure it wasn't corrupted during download)
I, among others, installed SP1 since yesterday with no problems.
It's more likely that there's something wrong with your OS.

Did you install SP1 Beta by any chance?
Try running 'SFC /scannow' to see if Windows can repair any corrupted files before installing SP1.
Also, ensure you're up to date with Windows Updates, including 'KB976902' Update.

Glad to hear you got it working.

no major improvements/changes; just a roll up of all hotfixes previously released plus a few new updates.

I had installed on of the first SP1 betas, but uninstalled it no problem. I ran the SFC /scannow, & no problems were found. KB976902 is installed on my laptop. The latest version was installed this past Tuesday.

Edit: One weird thing I did notice is that a few weeks ago, I had hidden the SP1 RC update, which I got from running the WUSignuptool_x86.exe. Yesterday, when I went to look at my hidden updates, the SP1 RC update was no longer there, just a bunch of language pack updates, which I had hidden.

There is the very small possibility that this was listed as a final at one point, then the decision was changed due to some very old fixes not being included (chkdsk, file deletion bug). I must admit it is intrigueing that the build is 2 months old already! In any case, its quite stupid that these (and some other fixes) weren't included in the SP1 as you'd expect, especially since these are earlier bugs whose fixes have been available for quite a while.
