Did the DMO codecs update for anyone? mp3dmod.dll mp4sdecd.dll mp43decd.dll also can anyone else confirm the broken task bar lock is fixed? edit nvm, confirmed as NOT FIXED. fuh.....
There seems to be numerous issues that were found with RTM Windows 7 that haven't been fixed with SP1. Furthermore, it seems the SP1 doesn't include several hotfixes, even those that have been around for a while. The chkdsk bug being one of them (SP1 reinstates the RTM chkdsk, not the hotfix RTM one which is obviously newer but uninstallable!), as are others which people have fuond and queried about. I've noticed that the hotfixes for many of the RTM Windows base device drivers, such as partmgr.sys etc (I'm talking about specific files, not typical Windowsupdate drivers etc) are the original RTM versions, despite there being newer versions available. The INF file is dated newer, but the actual driver that does the work is the old RTM ones. The issues that the related RTM hotfixes (some of which may have only been available via Zukobonus updates) rectified would, probably be resurfaced in the SP1 update. Thinking of this issue, its possible that only/mostly GDR updates were included in SP1, as the Chkdsk and partmgr.sys (there are several others) were from memory, LDR releases. The really unfortunate thing about the update system is that these updates are removed by the installation of the SP, and can't be installed/reinstalled due to the targetted platform being RTM and not SP1. I can only guess that future hotfixes, Zukona or otherwise, will become available that includes SP1 installable updates of those that had updated RTM files but weren't available in the SP update.
whats the KB article for the partmgr issue. and nope, the RTM Autochk.exe and SP1 Autochk.exe are different versions, the area's that correspond to non signing area's also are different enough to be sure its not the RTM version. unless there were major repo issues going on in SP1 development, the code that relates to the autochk hang fix should most definitely be in SP1
Has anyone simply tried scheduling a chkdsk to test autochk? KB975778 says that you "may experience one of the following issues the next time that you start the computer," which unfortunately makes it sound like none of this was reproducible in the first place. And I guess you'd better test on a laptop, since the KB says that "this problem is more likely to occur on computers that have infrared devices equipped." -A countdown timer is displayed and you are prompted to press any key if you want to skip the disk check. However, after you press a key, the countdown timer continues. Eventually, the system may stop responding at the count of 1, or start without performing the disk check. -The countdown timer is not displayed and the disk check starts immediately. -The countdown timer is displayed. However, the disk check starts before the countdown timer reaches zero.
Its possible the updates I were referring to were the internal updates released by Zukona, since I can't find a corresponding KB article. If SoLoR's update list for RTM was available I could tell you straight away, as well as anything else I could find with a quick look. Unfortunately, the repository has been take down (apparently) due to too much traffic caused by SP1 being available there...
The owner of a laptop i installed that hotfix on, is almost certain there is no infrared, also i don't recall the part about the infrared on the hotfix description when i originally got it. Paul Thurrott likes to regurgitate corporate BS.
Here is the list of hotfixes included in SP1: .ttp://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=kpjambSS (put h before because I m not allowed posting links till reach 20 posts)
For who was slipstreaming sp1 into the wim, I think the sp1 backup files aren't kept in the image and dism does automatically remove them. That's why eve dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded doesn't work. For some reason however they keep showing up in the disk cleanup tool... Does anyone know where these backup files are usually stored?
