You need to update your clean install of Win...It needs a prerequisite The update (KB976902) is a prerequisite necessary to successfully install and to remove any service packs to all versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
And good luck to them with that! It would be an incredible turnaround to go from the still-unreleased RC to RTM by then, given how slow the IE team is. I think the most important thing in Wzor's update was this brilliant, inscrutable line: And along the road dead with braids standing, and silence
I have an unusual problem, on my desktop sp1 says its unable to identify the version of Windows i'm running so it won't install, on my laptop I have a the common old problem of corrupted store which the readyness tool, sfc /scannow and everything else i've tried both can't fix.. no sp1 on my pc's until I can work these two problems out, I really don't want to do 2 x reinstalls. Both are running 7 64bit ultimate.
Difficult. There is a non-official solution here: technipages.com/vista-error-8007000d-during-windows-update.html Not tested.
My computer will not stop working because i didn't installed a leaked SP1. In my case, i wait for the true Microsoft ISO.
@FukenGruven: People are excited as if he had won the lottery. No emergency to install a leaked SP1 !
i don't think anyone is 'excited as if he had won the lottery'. People are here to discuss, share, and acquire help relating to SP1. After all, this is an IT Forum specifically geared towards M$ Products. If you want to wait, then by all means, do so. But don't look down on other people for choosing to do so. No one here is pushing, influencing, or forcing you to do so.
This leaked release is the official win 7 sp1 (rtm) "its a sign-off" So, this is really a matter of "paper terms". At the end you will get this same release when you download the official one from microsoft.... You can download, and try on a test machine... no one is pushing... is up to you if you want to wait for the "Official announcement"
Wzor just posted an explanation about all this service pack thing.. Can't stop laughing reading this.. And by the way: the sp1 wzor placed on they webpage (7601.17514.101119-1850) IS RTM according to them.
SP1 installed successfully on my test machine. It took more then an hour to complete. My main machine is dual booting with XP. Installing the sp1 will disrupt the dual boot for sure. I forgot how to deal with that. I will put it on hold for now

I'm running XP and W7 SP1 on a dual boot. I installed the service pack on my existing dual boot and no issues.
