There was definite proof about SP1 being signed off BEFORE servicingstack update over WU, when MS released 2 hotfixes taged as "sp2" and you could see SP1 version there already... also MS signed off SP1 BEFORE new year already (since those 2 hotfixes are dated 29/30 of dec)), honestly it took VERY long time to get even unoffical conformation and leaked bits of it... im actualy suprised that it took that long.
RTM escrows do not expire. And they also carry the "rtm" tag in the build string. The question isn't whether this is RTM or RC. It's whether this is RTM or an escrowed RTM. It's normal for Microsoft (and other companies) to sit on large projects like this after completion to do validation testing and other non-code prep. Though, you're right: 2 months from build to leak is an awfully long time--that's about what you'd expect for a new OS, not for a SP! No source in the article? How much are you willing to bet this is just another parroting of that TechNet blog post?
It's RTM.There's just too much evidence to think otherwise. So stopp worrying and wait for official ISO-s and annoucment by MS.
I wonder how Paul is gonna talk his way out of his latest blunder . Although he should be used to being wrong by now.
Well I said I would report back and I was able to finally figure out the 0x8007000e error I kept getting on my windows 7 ultimate x86 laptop. I ended up having all 34 language packs installed. So I did another fresh install with out them and all went well. I am such a noob sometimes! lmfao
If it's a blunder, it's not his. He's a reporter/blogger who asks questions of MS, sometimes merely MS's PR agency, and they supply official answers. He relays them to us. That's all it was in this case. If it's a case of garbage in/garbage out we'll know soon enough. What would you have him do, not ask the questions and/or not report the answers? That he installed it is irrelevant. He installs practically all leaked software of note to do write-ups on them, sometimes to MS's chagrin.
Then he shouldn't take any credit whatsoever for when he is actually right about something, because he is only relaying what he heard right? If he is simply a relay-er of information then he is no better than you or I. The people who are actually in the know (SoLoR, canouna, zuko, Chris123NT, etc.) should be the one's talking. No, Paul was talking like he actually had inside information "That is not the case. SP1 is imminent, but it's not quite done as I write this. It won't be long". If he knew somehing then he'd know to keep his mouth shut. My two cents
He should stop listening to MS employees that needs to give offical statements and start using his head, so unless he is on MS payroll or gets some kind of other benifits (like NDA beta testing) he is just stupid if he blindly belives whatever MS PR mashine tells him.
All this info really comes from Zukona and Wzor, but mostly from Zukona... Rest of us are just messangers when we can be bothered
Well I also know that you're not too shabby with computers and know where to look for most of this info. I respect what you and the others do. I know that Zuko and Wzor are the head of the madness, but I will count you all amoung the top trusted sources to look for good info
And why would anyone in their right mind install ALL available language packs?.No-one on erath can speaks all those languages at once anyway.Best case a person know maybe 7-8 languages.I know 2 fully and 2 partially.
your computer was likely borked before you even went for SP1. lol, Rafael rivera is known for being an idiot as well, check out the Windows 7 killing batteries threads. as for speed improvements.... they might come from the IO not being thrashed when doing lots of file moving, as well as the fact the OS is now aligning 4K sectors properly for advanced drives.
