Thank you burfadel, but I have decided to not install CCC anymore. Considering my needs, MSI Afterburner is the way to go.
Weird, I did not encounter any ATI/AMD driver compatibility issues with SP1 installations. I install SP1 on a desktop with Catalyst 10.12 and a laptop with ATI/Intel switchable graphics (with a far more outdated driver).
i got a windows 7 RTM iso and going to slipstream sp1.. is RT 7 Lite the quickest and most painless way to do this?
yeah saw that method and i dont have that much free time so i will get to RT 7 Lite and report back later if i run into any problems.
Registered just to say thanks! I've been having problems for days installing SP1... kept getting the RPC_S_CALL_FAILED (0x800706BE) error at the end of install (waste of 2 hours each time). No idea what was causing it... tried disabling all services and startup programs, anti-virus also... same thing each time. Then I followed your suggestion this morning... uninstalled all the ATI junk, but I also rebooted into safe mode and installed it... worked! of course I have no idea if its the lack of ATI software that allowed it to install, or just the lack of anything in safe mode... don't care really, I have working SP1 now, so that's all that matters installing SP1 in safe mode was a lot faster too, it's at least twice as fast on this old system compared to under normal mode
Running short of patience? Me too! lol. The anticipation is killing me. What is it about factory fresh that's so appealing?
