I downloaded WAIK and that's just a supplement for WAIK win7 RTM !!! SO THere's no new imagex, DISM etc. just WINPE,featurepacks and lps for SP1
I am downloading the W7USP1x64 bits right now, but I don't feel like going to a reinstall this weekend. I'm happy with how SP1 works, so I did use the "dism /online /cleanup-Image /spsuperseded" command to clean up the backup files. And while it did clean some of the files, it did not however clean all of them. See the attached screen capture. Any thoughts on how to remove this? As always, I appreciate your help!
You can just delete the whole bda... folder. That kind of randomly named folders in the root of a volume (in this case C:\) are temporary directories where the sp1 exe is extracted. For some reason it wasn't deleted after sp1 install was done.
Hi All, I've downloaded 2 editions; Ultimate & Enterprise. I view the file ei.cfg and read that: OEM Ultimate [EditionID] Ultimate [Channel] OEM [VL] 0 OEM Enterprise [EditionID] Enterprise [Channel] OEM [VL] 1 Is there any difference between the number 0 & 1 ? If I want to change from Ultimate OEM to Ultimate Retail, What I need to do is to change the word OEM to Retail, is it correct ? Thanks for your concern in advance.
I think the 0 onder VL means it's not volume licensing, and the 1 mean it is. And yes, replacing OEM to Retail gives you a retail iso.
Hi. I want to integrate all images into one DVD (including Enterprise). Will deleting the ei.cfg cause Win 7 enterprise not to be volume licensed.. (will it stop activating itself automatically from a local kms server?)
I think you have to copy the entire contents of the dvd to C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools or whatever directory you installed waik, havent tested it yet
You were right, Stannieman. First, I tried to run the "dism /online /cleanup-Image /spsuperseded" command again and it said that there were no SP1 backup files to remove. Then I did what you said, but the strangest thing happened. Windows explorer reported that some of the paths/filenames were too long [sic!], so they could not be removed. After renaming the folders with really long names, I managed to delete all of them successfully. Hope this will help someone with the same problem.
There are some batch files at the root of the dvd.Wonder what they do?.Perhaps these need to be run after extract?
The dvd contains the contents of C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools. If you have waik 2.0 installed you can replace all the contents of the PETools folder with the contents of the iso. The batch files are just part of waik, nothing special.
I downloaded the 64 bit ultimate edition and tried the eicfg_removal_utility because I want to install the home premium edition. But when I locate the iso in the eicfg_removal_utility I get an error when using it. So I am looking for a link to the 64 bit home premium iso.
with power iso (free trial does it) just double click on the iso then navigate to the file then delete then close power iso, it will ask you to save then it will save keeping the bootable options, magic iso can sometimes kill the booting.
