Some more isos with integrated SP1 Hey, guys, I just wanted to give you heads up on new isos on WZOR's site. You might want to check that
So were the files just missing from System32\drivers? Or were there old versions there that were not replaced by the new ones? If it's the former, that's fine, since Windows usually does not copy stuff from the repository locations (DriverStore and WinSxS) into the active location (System32\drivers) unless the files are actually needed. If, however, you were already using those files prior to SP1, and the SP1 installer failed to update those files to the SP1 versions, then that's a problem (similar to the usbehci.sys/usbport.sys/winusb.sys problem that I posted about a week ago). (BTW, I checked my Ultimate system, and none of those 3 files are present...)
there were no old versions in there, however there were references to them in my register under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ so they were failing to load. Not sure how these references got in there if they aren't part of a standard Ultimate install. But, it is what it is- that's how it was on my setup. So yes I had to manually copy them in. I supposed I could have just as easily deleted them from the registry, but I didn't know whether they were needed or not. figured this was was safer.
the usb issue seems to be a driver numbering glitch, the file version present in that location is the correct version but Devmgr shows an older number. the only file that is not up to date is the usbehci.sys.
According to downloadsquad.switched.com/2011/01/14/windows-7-sp1-due-today-says-microsoft-technet-post, RTM was released to OEMs today. the build is exactly what was leaked by WZor.
i see. i installed the integrated ISO posted on wzor earlier this week and notice extra services are set to automatic by default. like Windows Font Cache, Encrypting File System (EFS), and a few others. I hate having extra services running in the background. I have faith in wzor though. from what i have been reading, microsoft is set to release it very very soon.
You think right . I wasn't precise enough ... it seemed an evidence to me that windows update won't try to install beta or RC versions in place of GA versions.
Just wanted to know one thing. As of now, IE9 RC installs in place of IE8 by default. Just like any browser update. For future, will IE9 RTM also install on top of IE9RC. I just do not want the bother of uninstalling IE9RC and then installing IE9RTM. However, because of this uncertainty, I have to make a system image before install of IE9RC. As anyone knows, IE9RC install is quite painful and lengthy and I just want to commit it to an earlier system image, so that all subsequent images have IE9RC. Right now, it is in the last image.
I just hope they add IE9 to enable/diable windows features with RTM.Because as it stands i can't disable it.
@acyuta You'll still have the option to uninstall IE9 Rc , coming back to IE8. Then install IE9 Rtm .
