it has more than 5gigs because it has many language packs included. i suppose thats the only thing that differs dell discs from "regular" oem discs
Just FYI for everyone.. The Ultimate 64 bit Dell ISO went up on Demonoid this morning.. Its 5.75gb as well... Is that extra 2gb really just the language packs and stuff?? I just want the OEM folder!!!
Hi Monotremata, Do you have the Demonoid download link for the Dell ISO? x64 alone is 3.0GB while the complete language pack adds around 2.27GB to a total of 5.27GB. I'm curious what the extra 500MB is. I googled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DELL ISO but all the torrents seem not to be the real thing.
Nobody is seeding them at the moment at demonoid .. so they don't show up in a search there .. unless you change the filter from 'seeded' to 'unseeded' or 'both'.
Yeah I stopped trying to get it after a day or so hehe. I was gonna message the guy on Demonoid and see if he would just send me the OEM folder.. Ive already got Enterprise and Ultimate ISO's dont wanna bother downloading another 5+GB, since I dont have any DL discs and I just wanna make my own! The extra 500MBs are probably just the preinstalled apps that come on the machine. I know you usually get seperate discs for like the Roxio stuff though..
I just had another thought .. maybe there are seeders , but the tracker has some probs at the moment ..
Well theres like 40 seeders on it at the moment but yeah Demonoid wont load pages half the time hehe.. If any of you got it yet please please post up that $OEM$ folder for us!
If youve already got an ISO of Ultimate around just download the OEM folder he posted above and make your own. I made mine last night and tested it in VMWare and it works perfect. Its activated and shows the Dell logo in the System properties now.. Was a pain in the ass to get it to work until I realized VMWare's bios isnt the same as my Dell. Had to find an alternate bios file someone made here to get it to fake being a 2.1 slic Dell..
not just VM-Ware any machine needs slic or slp 1 in bios to activate OEM been that way for ever. there are even bios mods for MS virtual PC
Yeah it was really pissing me off.. It would go through the install, the Dell logos were in place but thing wouldnt activate to save its life hehe.. Turns out the first time I did it, I copied Win 7 off one of my old USB sticks and it was still build 7260.. Redid it with the Ultimate RTM and still same deal no activation.. I was thinking by then that there was more to it then just putting the $OEM$ folder into the Sources folder. Did a bit of searching on OEM installs in VMWare and found a Dell bios here in the Virtualization forums that allowed it to work. It was made for VMWare 6 but still works great in 7 once you tell your machine where to look for the bios. Even let Windows update itself last night, downloaded the 9 important updates and installed it was working like a dream.. Ive got Enterprise on here now (the now blacklisted HP key) but wanted a Dell disc just in case one day that Enterprise token backup trick doesnt work... Thanks to the good old bios modders here, Ive got both options available..
Whoa awesome I didnt see that the other day haha! I just added a line to the vmx file that pointed to the bios in the same directory. This sounds like I dont have to configure it like that everytime. Gotta go grab this! Maybe now I can test out Mac OS too hehe.
