Hey, I currently have the following windows 7 rtm iso image: 7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD Can I use this iso to install home premium? If not then why hasn't anybody created a torrent for home premium? If i can get a key from technet for windows 7 I won't need to mess around with activators, patches etc and it will be permanently activated right? If i reinstall windows 7 later on, can i use the same key i got from technet again?
You can install home premium by opening the iso with poweriso and delete "ei.cfg" in the source folder and save your image. As for the technet key, you won't need a loader or patches. But I don't know if you can re-install several times, what I know is that you can use that key for 10 computers.
it's ultimate edition only. so get a torrent win7 home premium or msdn version. (look the post above me, how to convert UL to HP) as for the torrent win7 Hprem ed., ask mr. google and mrs. mininova as for the key to msdn, yeah you will be able to activate it just like the retail versions.... if you are the only one using that key and not together with your friend, your friend's friend, sister, brother, etc. yes you will able to reinstall it, but i believe sometimes you have to phone MS in activating msdn versions.
so are u saying that i cant delete ei.cfg and install home premium? is there some issue with deleteing ei.cfg?
There is no issue, by deleting it you'll be able to choose what version you wanna install: starter, home basic, home premium, pro, ultimate x64 doesn't have a starter edition, only x86.
