I just wanted to say that they actually fixed a bug from win8.0 The numlock key actually stays on when you log on in 8.1
nice catch bro! that was a very annoying bug indeed especiall if you had to type a login password that contained a few numbers
hi, on the metro screen,. All the applications of radio work but will stop after +/-5 minutes. firewall is't ok Defender ok an idea? WIKI
It's not a bug until past the General Availability date. This won't happen for over another month. Your issue could be related to timing out in communication with servers that are not even supposed to be online yet.
So what your saying is, if you normal-click (left) the shutdown button from charms, it will do the fast boot shutdown (hibernation). But if you right-click it instead, it will do a full shutdown and cold boot? I don't consider this a bug imo... seems pretty intentional.
When you set the lockscreen slideshow and then enable a screensaver, if you check the option "back to the logon screen on resume" it automatically disable the slideshow feature in the lockscreen. At least this is happening in a VM machine. Anyone can confirm it?
confirmed! actually for me doesn't matter if I check that or not, I can only use 1 or the other, enabling one disables other
yeah probably its intentional but its weird thing lower steps to shutdown mean cold boot so what the point of it
I have a socket 939 Foxconn MB with a dual core Athlon 3800+ x64 processor and 4 Gb ram. Although my computer is thoroughly capable of running Windows 8 64 bit, it will NOT even START to install the 64 bit version of Windows 8.1 RTM or any other builds.
That's not a bug. They upped the requirements for the x64 verison. Unless you're rocking some ddr3 ram, you should probably stick with the x86 version.
Stick with a x86 copy the age of that processor negates any advantages you will get with a 64 bit OS tbh. Let the bugs continue lol like the moth found...
Did they swap the "empty recycle bin" and "pin to start" context-menu items of the Recycle Bin in 8.1? Because every time I right-click to empty it and don't think about that action, I pin it to Start... never happened in Windows 8. I already stopped how many times I had to unpin it again... another bug by design.
Ugh I see what you mean, sometimes it'll be perfect but then it'll randomly go into delay which totally throws me off and prevents me from "getting used too" the delay.
I have some issues with win 8.1 although most may not be related to the OS but to apps. The upshot of this is that because of these issues, I have to go back to Win 8 till at least Oct-Nov. 1. ASmedia SATA controller driver (for esata) gives an error on install but installs and works anyway. This is to mean in-windows switch on/off capability for esata devices. The bigger problem is that this capability goes away on a image restore and so drivers have to installed again. ASmedia drivers for win 8.1 not yet in. 2. Secure boot watermark issue: This caused me to dump acronis free for WD in favour of Acronis 2014 premium. The free version was 100% reliable but acronis 2014 often says backup is not recoverable. I had maybe 1-2 corrupt backups in acronis free (in 3 years) but 4-5 corrupt ones in acronis 2014 (in 2-3 days). So hunting for a backup solution that is secure boot capable so that I can enable it in BIOS and be rid of the watermark. Most likely will try macrium free on win 8 with secure boot enabled. 3. In win 8.1 and win 7, on install, I got lower resolution (perhaps 1366*768). GPU is NVIDIA GTX560. I had to install NVIDIA drivers to get native resolution (1920*1200). In win 8 this problem was not there and I got native resolution (1920*1200) on initial install. I thought win 8.1 will carry on this happy state but no such thing. 4. The biggest improvement I see in win 8.1 (although this is not hugely relevant for me) is the store. Apps install in a snap. In win 8, the app store was a disgrace and was miles behind google play. Apps would show downloading, installing, pending... and then nothing. Sign out and try again. Ultimately, could install apps and updates but what should take 5 mins takes 30-40 mins and repeated sign ins/outs.
I've found that turning off the new scaling DPI in Windows 8.1 helps solve some some of the weird "always changing sensitivity" problems in FPS games. I still feel a certain delay though. Oh well, will wait for some patches.
To get net framework to install use the following command ( cannot remember if admin cmd is required but you will find out) DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:\sources\sxs Source d would be the 8.1 dvd or mounted iso------------worked 100% for me as I had several programs I couldnt install till net frame went on.
I've noticed this when clicking one of the mouse buttons, it likes to become super-sensitive sometimes. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens enough to be annoying. I wonder if it's the generic usb mouse driver or some direct input problem.
