my latest entry was talking about bios and then I was in a hurry. Also my next questions were to look after an update which orca confirmed in the post above

Well, troubleshooting with drivers/bios updates is all you can do when you don't have extra hardware parts to swap around for testing. It seems as though there are many users experiencing the similar problem as the search for "windows 8.1 black/blank screen" turns up hundreds of posts everywhere. Again, the video card seems to be the issue at hand. Try to grab a cheapo used one if you can.

In the mean time, play around with power management settings in CMOS/BIOS setting.

whatever just for the sake of checking the function. Best is to go to a friend who has an old one which fits into your slot. If you need to buy a card, get the lowest level with the specs for your board

    Hello all

Well I fixed the problem and you are never going to believe what was causing it......... The bloody network card
I'm writing this from the PC and it seems to be working fine with 3 successful boots. Just install drivers now.

Thank you everyone for all your help.
