windows 8.1 brightness issue

    i have windows 8.1 and i have brightness issue it is constant it is not increasing as well as not decreasing plz help

    check your graphic driver if it is latest from manufacturer (don't use generic drivers from MS)

    Device Manager should be clean - no red/yellow indicators.

    There is a setting in Control Panel/Power options to make you display brighter. Unless you changed it though, its default setting is off.

    Most monitors these days have the brightness option in their hardware.
    Do you normally use this method or do you attempt to change brightness with the software overlay options?

    Are we talking laptop or desktop here? Be nice to have a more focused starting point. (Make/Model/Graphics)

    At full brightness, it won't increase. At minimum brightness, it won't decrease. How do you know what brightness level you are at?

    My Dell laptop w/8.1 has a "level gauge" that pops up when I use the laptop's brightness keys. Is that what isn't working?
