Hey abbodi, Are all listed updates for .NET 3.5 in WHD applicable to Windows 8.1 "with Update" ISO? Regards,
Removed updates from the x64 list this month: Code: Old Updates\Windows8.1-KB2966828-x64.msu Then why Windows update still offers this update?
That's for .Net 3.5. I have no idea why last month was asking for it anyway. I don't install .net 3.5 updates. If you want to install optional features, you need to do your own sleuthing.
My Windows 8.1 Update x86 system is updated through the October 14, 2014 updates. I usually do a "dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup" after installing the updates. I noticed that three updates were uninstalled (and listed in the CBS.LOG); KB2959977, KB2977174, and KB2994897. KB2977174 and KB2994897 are included with the September 2014 Rollup Update KB2984006. KB2959977 is included with the Windows 8.1 Update. What updates replaced the three that were uninstalled?
KB2959977 was the SSL server2003/2008 fix that they eventually included in the 2919355 pack. KB2977174 You cannot prevent applications or services from being shut down or restarted by using the msiexec command I don't know what the KB2994897 did, but it was in the sept rollup pack and probably got an update and shoved into the oct rollup.
hi murphy. just wanna thank you first for the effort you're doing. i'm using your releases since june 2012 and they're great, far better than any other slipstreams. could you tell me when the windows 8.1 x64 october 2014 release will be? i'd like to download this version before reinstalling my OS. a big thank you & keep up the good work.
probably within minutes actually. I'm just testing the last index on my x64 version now. I always test multiple indexes of every release to make sure everything is working exactly as MS intends. The extended testing might be annoying for the fans but it also gives me an extra day or so to make sure there's no major problems being reported on any updates. It saved me from an embarrassing recall on the failed August Rollupdate version.
@murphy78 it is not possible to have also a complete list of updates (starting from update 1) to be integrated into boot.wim and winre.wim?
I tried that for a couple of months and now I only slipstream the latest servicing stack and 2981666. More of a pain than it's worth and has no real benefit at all. They're for setup only and have no influence on Windows up and running.
Hmm... I don't remember.. I know you need the latest servicing stack, and you should integrate 2934018 and the august rollup 2975719 Then you need to copy the [root]\sources\setup.exe from the mounted boot.wim after integrating the boot.wim index 2 (bootable index) to the sources\ folder of the distribution and overwrite the existing one. I'm not entirely sure you need anything else except those 3. Those seem to be the only ones that affect the setup files. I'm sure other ones do as well, I just don't remember any that do. abbodi1406 is really sharp with finding out which ones need to go into the boot media. I think, just ever since I have been able to resetbase the boot.wim I've been stacking all the updates I can get and resetbasing it without keeping a running list.
