- The following updates will be requested only when installing Preview Monthly Quality Rollup but they will not show when installing the following Security Monthly Quality Rollup and so on. Therfore, you have the choice to install or ignore them: Code: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1 (KB3185319) Update for Windows 8.1 (KB3038936) Update for Windows 8.1 (KB3162835) Update for Windows 8.1 (KB3118401)
I know it's a bit late, but how do I run this command? I have install_wim_tweak.exe, ran the commands, but it seems it did nothing, because the wuaueng.dll is still dated March 2017... I have installed the Security Only KB4015547 for 8.1 x64. It would be great if I could apply this, because I only install the Security Only updates, and only the April one includes the new WUA.
It turns out the installation DID have Metro Apps installed. So the "POST FIRST INSTALL UPDATES" were really just the metro apps being updated automatically. They were not KB updates. Thanks abbodi1406 for helping me figure that mistake out. Also, as abbodi1406 said, there is no option for "Never check for updates" during OOBE. The option I was thinking of was "Windows Update: Don't set up Windows Update (not recommeded)" which is obviously different.
I am offered Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1 (KB3185319) on Windows 2012 R2 patched to date, all other Optionals included but without any Preview installed. It shows as superseded in WSUS. Something similar was showing on Windows 7 in a certain patching sequence, which is IE11 installed in the original version RTM, not the one which is currently on Windows Update and relates to cumulative update 20 (June 2016). This was and is due to a broken supersedence chain between RTM (too old) and current IE CUs.
Hello guys, please, is there any way, how to trick Windows Update in Windows 8-1, so it will think, that some particular LanguagePack (zh-TW in my case) IS installed (as 2nd inactive), while it is not installed at all? In which registry values it LP info stored? Thanks.
Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI\UILanguages\zh-TW] "LCID"=dword:00000404 "Type"=dword:00000112 this works for upgrades, i doubt it works for updates because they checks for CBS packages
When I service a Win8.1 offline wim, I noticed that all the updates I add show an Install Pending state whereas on Win10 all normal updates show an Installed state after servicing them offline. I can't reduce the size of the win8.1 wim which just keeps growing because of the install pending flags . Even when I start fresh with an Update1 wim (3.5Gb), the new updated image is 6.3Gb. On W10 the images stay pretty much the same size since cleanup is easily accomplished. Is there anyway around this problem for W8.1?
