New hypervintegrationservices KB4036479 seems to be problematic, and it's withdrawn WHDowloader lists reverted to KB4021918
I am trying to remove KB4025335 (Jul. 18 Rollup-Preview) with DISM and it seems to work until I reboot. Code: C:\Windows\system32>dism /online /norestart /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9600.18757.1.4 Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 6.3.9600.17031 Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031 Processing 1 of 1 - Removing package Package_for_Rollup-Fix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9600.18757.1.4 [==========================100.0%==========================] The operation completed successfully. During boot up, Windows seems to be reverting the changes and restarts again. Once the system is up, the packages list still shows the Rollup-Fix as installed. Anyone know how to fix this or know what the cause might be?
Most likely a missing/corrupted sub-components or packages the only way to be sure is to check clean cbs.log Code: net stop trustedinstaller net stop wuauserv DEL /S /F /Q %systemroot%\Logs\CBS\* DEL /S /F /Q %systemroot%\Logs\DISM\* now remove the rollup and reboot, then check cbs.log for errors
I don't have the new CUM installed yet. Only the July Preview CUM that I'm trying to remove before applying the latest CUM These are the last bits in the setupapi.dev.log that show an error. SFC /scannow verifies OK. I'm not sure why it says driver update not found. Looks like msiscsi .sys is there. I tried that too. Also does a restart during boot and has a status of Staged instead of Installed in the Packages.txt.
I decided to do a fresh install since I wasn't getting anywhere trying to fix the Restart problem trying to remove the July CUM Preview. Thanks to abbodi1406 for all the suggestions in trying to resolve this. It was a good learning experience for me. I'm currently having a senior moment though in regard to winsxs. I updated a clean wim (Update1) and applied all the missing fixes including September update with dism. About 260 fixes in all. None of the fixes added have been superseded. The install went fine and WU indicates no updates available after checking for updates. What I don't understand is why my winsxs is over 14Gb after a clean install. I basically have to do a /StartComponentCleanup which takes forever to reduce the size after a clean install. I always thought the winsxs bloat was caused by the accumulation of older files. Am I doing something wrong with my offline wim integration? Hi here my winsxs is identic your in size around the 13.0 GB after use of Dism++ so I believe that is normal this size imo
