So Microsoft will not start rolling out these updates until Windows 8.1 reaches GA? Because some people say it might happen today.
yep GA is the day to get the files or you take the ones here on MDL which are the same edit: as arseny tells us below, files will be available few days later on Tuesday 22, anyway ....
Yeah, I know. After installing those my device doesn't wake up from sleep (connected standby) properly, though. This is rather disappointing as I thought those updates were ment to fix stuff, not break it.
Ok, that's bad. On the other hand though, it doesn't matter anyway. Given the fact they will be rolling out the exact same updates we already have, I won't be able to install GA Rollup A anyway. Really funny, everything was working perfectly until I installed what they refer to as "Quick Fix Engineering" update. Great job, Microsoft!
October 22 won't be patch Tuesday anyway, it would be November 12. I think they will come out right on October 17, or even today, to make sure everything is set for GA. It would be much more risky to pull a big switch on October 17 that rolls out everything at the same time.
Yeah, actually that's what I think as well. Let's see what happens. Keep in mind it's called GA Rollup, so it should be available by thursday at the latest.
Patch Tuesday are happening always on the second Tuesday of a month. optionally also on fourth Tuesday of a month.
Installed the GA Rollup updates in this order: 1. Windows8.1-KB2894179-x64 2. Windows8.1-KB2883200-x64 3. Windows8.1-KB2894029-x64 I did a restart after each update (although I am told I could have restarted after installing all three.) Everything was fine and my system actually seemed more responsive. About the only Metro app I use is the 8.1 Pro mail app (which for some reason, I like better then Outlook 2013) and this morning it started freezing after a few minutes. I have several email accounts and simply switching from one to another was all it took. Then I noticed that the Microsoft Store app was freezing when I searched for apps. I decided to uninstall all three updates and now my system is stable again. Has anyone else seen this behavior in any metro apps after installing the Windows 8.1 GA Rollup A updates? Thanks for a great site with definitely the best resources for Windows 8.x Nb
Not exactly this one, but I had a couple of problems too after installing GA Rollup A. So, we do now know these updates break a lot of stuff. But what do they actually fix? At the bottom line it's really not what I expected it to be. I guess I have to block them as soon as WU rollout starts.
