I'm on east coast. I have an idea why. One pc had a completely legit version of Pro on it and the other had a KMS activated version. It showed on the legit PC and not on the other..makes sense too.
BTW, after using the Store APP to upgrade and then running windows update the final version number is still 6.3.9600.16404.
You have wrong sense. Now everyone should read this: Only retail licenses are getting upgrades through Store. Volume licensed installations WILL NOT get upgrades trough Store. To get a Store-alike upgrade on volume versions, one is supposed to have the following configuration: The volume licensed machine must be joined to the enterprise domain of the company it is licensed to. There must be a WSUS server deployed. There must be LOB-apps deployed, i.e. one uses the Company Portal Modern app to access work resources. The administrator provisions the new (cryptoid 2618) Volume:MAKs to the clients via VAMT (or deploys KMSv6) and releases volume licensed images to WSUS. Clients load it via the company portal. Now can we please stop flooding here, as this thread is dedicated to hotfixes?
Wow, the search bug still isn't fixed in GA rollup. When I try searching for anything using the search charm, explorer.exe's CPU usage immediately goes to 100% and stays there, making the entire OS slow and unresponsive. Only restarting the process helps.
After uninstalling the leaked GA Rollup, I have these updates now available in Windows updates: 1. Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2884846) 2. Update for the English Input Personalization Dictionary - KB2881553 (Version 16.1.566.1) 3. Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2883200) 4. Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2895219) explorer.exe version detail now says 6.3.9600.16408 instead of 16404 with the previous uninstalled leaked GA Rollup. ntoskrnl.exe version detail is 6.3.9600.16404. Additionally I am not seeing any issues with search from charms or cpu utilization. So far so good and Metro apps are stable... Nb
Gee, you're hilarious. The problem is present on a clean install with or without the latest drivers and googling has revealed that people have been experiencing it since 8.1 preview.
I updated with the leaked GA rollup and then did the windows update today 10/17. The explorer.exe changed from 6.3.9600.16404 to 6.3.9600.16408. You did not need to uninstall the GA rollup.
