I need some help regarding updating Windows 8.1 RTM to its latest version.. First try to update from RTM to Update 3 using these Updates: Windows8.1-KB2938772-x64.cab Windows8.1-KB2938439-x64 Windows8.1-KB2937592-x64 Windows8.1-KB2932046-x64 Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64 Windows8.1-KB3021910-x64 Windows8.1-KB3014442-x64 Windows8.1-KB3003057-x64 Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64 Windows8.1-KB2934018-x64 These were integrated with WHD-81 (also apply ResetBase) and the updates were downloaded with WHDownloader. generating an ISO with the name: 9600.17415.141028-1500.WINBLUE_R4_CLIENT_X64FRE_ES-ES.iso but when I load it in NTLite it keeps mentioning that it is build 9600.16384 (basically RTM) after going to updates it shows that the updates are "integrated (pending installation)" my question is, shouldn't the build have been changed? What am I doing wrong? Spoiler: WHD-81.ini Code: [W81UI-Configuration] Target =C:\WHD-81\DVD Repo =Updates DismRoot =dism.exe Net35 =1 Cleanup =1 ResetBase =1 Cab_Dir =W81UItemp MountDir =W81UImount WinreMount =W81UImountre WinRE =0 wim2esd =0 ISO =1 ISODir = Delete_Source =0 AutoStart =0 OnlineLimit =75 LDRbranch =YES Hotfix =YES WUSatisfy =YES Windows10 =NO WMF =NO RSAT =NO
Updates are not service packs, they don't change base version 9600.16384 however, the revision version can vary depending on how NTLite detect it dism.exe has version dismhost.exe has version ntoskrnl.exe has version 6.3.9600.17031 is the CBS version for KB2919355 you need to boot the image in Audit mode to install the updates then sysprep, shutdown, capture new install.wim
Resetbase for my August update removed KB3121261 and KB3145384. 3145384 is superseded, but I'm not sure about 312126 and whether it needs to be put back in.
I scanned the system and spaceport.sys (6.3.9600.20518) still exists in the Drivers, DiriverStore and WinSxS directories. Seems to have to do with storage spaces which i've never used. System still boots ok. KB no longer appears in the dism packages.txt, but the driver is active after booting. So I guess I don't need to re-add KB3121261.
I stand correct spaceport was added since 2022-08 Monthly Rollup KB3121261 is now superseded (for Client) because 2024-08 Monthly Rollup now include kernel32.dll.mui unfortunately, KB3121261 is still not supeseded for Server so i will just keep
Interesting, I was always wondering when they would finally add those kernel32.dll.mui files to the monthly Rollup
They updated description for the dissolved Netherlands Antilles, and Turkey and Croatia currency i think
