Excellent detective work abbodi1406. I wonder if this issue is only specific to the pre-built win8.1 boot.wim files as opposed to creating a new winpe and adding the setup and setup-client packages. I suspect that it would be the same if it replaces the setup.exe. I am hesitant to say that this is a good idea to put into practice though (swapping out the new setup.exe with the old one). I wonder though, if it isn't just some incompatibility with one of the packages. I've noticed that the win8.1 setup has a lot of packages that are not available in the winpe stuff in the adk. I think it's probably a much better idea to just wait for the newer pre-compiled isos and just use those boot.wims and setup folders.
Yes I concur. I too have been playing with all this but have decided to sit it out before I go full steam ahead! Updating my personal WinPE is one thing but going into full on production is a no no.
Thanks komm. I would say definitely the same as i said, further investigation that setup package is the second one i susbect (i checked boot environment files package) so i manually integrated only package_216_for_kb2919355 (which represent ImageBasedSetup-Media-base package), and the issue occurs yes, adk's winpe.wim is a base winpe or bare-metal
It turns out that the solution was simpler than i thought and the issue, is not actually an issue rather than misunderstand (MS is innocent ) all we need to do is to copy the updated setup.exe 9600.17031 from boot.wim 2 sources directory to iso sources directory or we can copy it from KB2919355 (or KB2932046) extracted microsoft-windows-i..sedsetup-media-base folder so bottom line, setup.exe in both boot.wim 2 and iso sources must be the same (we may also copy all other updated components in the package)
Just confused: My understanding is: Windows 8.1 Update 1 slipstream offline 1 KB2919442 Preparation Update 2 KB2939087 Preparation Update 3 KB2919355 Update 1 4 KB2932046 Supplement File 5 KB2938439 6 KB2937592 Integrate all to boot.wim Index 1 (WinPe) Integrate KB2919442 and KB2939087 to boot.wim Index 2 (Setup) Integrate all to install.wim and WinRe So, was wandering: 1) after extracting KB2932046 and KB2919355 using HFExtract.exe I am unable to find any system ie: exe, dll etc. files in any of the folders such as Code: microsoft-windows-i..sedsetup-media-base_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17031 for example; just xml, confg, text files and so forth. 2) how does one get Code: ....Offline /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase to work on a mounted image with install pending operations after slipstream? 3) I gather, then, all 6 of the update 1 KB's listed above should be slipstreamed to all of the boot and install images one is concerned with? (PE, Setup, install and WinRE) Thanks very much
1) Mount the boot.wim index:2 after applying all the updates and /resetbase'ing and copy the setup.exe to your installation media sources\ folder. 2) You don't. They made a special exception for the boot.wim for this new update. You cannot do it for the normal install indexes. 3) Well the adk instructions mention only the 4 from the WZT pack, but I've personally used the other 2 and they work fine with the same method. Just make sure you don't try to integrate them all at once. KB2919442 always has to integrate before KB2919355 and finish it's integration before kb2919355 will integrate properly You could stuff KB2919442 in a separate directory and just integrate that first, then integrate the rest of the updates... Ex: C:\msu\KB2919442\ C:\msu\rest\
Understood and many thanks-clears a lot up. Oh, and just one other thing; in your opinion do you think M$ will release a new ADK for Windows 8.1 Update 1 after April's general release or is the one downloadable with 1702-minus the 1702 wims-basically it. Just curious about your opinion is all; I am currently using the standard 8.1 ADK.
They did for the first 8.1 GA The only thing that makes me think they'd also do it for this one is that this ADK uses dism 17029 instead of 17031 that comes with the update.
So, Update is live on MSDN. This fact also confirms what I did say earlier, since KB2939087 is not included in the MSDN packages, it is not part of the Update, due to it being in the pres14 dogfood branch. On the other hand, the MSDN packages include KB2949621-v2 which did not leak earlier. thanks, I thought KB2938439 was also optional? I never installed it with the leak........so ms now says you should install it? i'm confused
So.. the refreshed en_windows_8.1_with_update_x64_dvd_4065090.iso contain 3 more updates: KB2937220 KB2938772 KB2939471 unfortunately, they are not requestables through hotfix system
I kinda thought it would change a tiny bit, tho the 2919355 would stick... They'll probably put up the updates on Tuesday if not sooner.
hi friends i download this KB2949621-v2 installed ok but any news about this spring update final packages or what wzor is not online anymore so when will be cca leaked something ??
Anyone checked what windows updates are available after install. Does this iso mean that I can perhaps delete all updates on local disk from RTM to March. Do people get secure boot watermark now. Have not installed the iso as of now since it became available early morning India time and today is a work day. Will try when I get home in the evening.
2919355 included everything up to march updates, including the mouse fixes, rollups, and secureboot stuff. The only thing that wasn't present was the march rollup, defender functionality update, and camera junk, but I haven't checked the new iso to compare updates on that.
We may not know what updates are applicable till say the updates for win 8.1 are posted perhaps next Tuesday. That may contain the spring update for a previous win 8.1. For this iso, it seems like a guess at the moment.
