Since upgrading to 8.1 from 8, my browsers are all acting up, Chrome, FF, IE, all doing the same thing, which makes me think its not a browser issue

Websites are either failing to load fully leaving the spinning circle on the tab, or they won't load at all until I hit refresh about 10 times

My Router webpage rarely loads any more either, I have to hit refresh loads of times to get it to load, and then again if I switch between settings tabs

    1. Reflashed router - Router is fine from other devices
    2. Reinstalled network card drivers
    3. Disabled / enabled Ethernet, and disabled VMWare ethernet adapters
    4. Static IP / Checked all settings are good
    5. Reset winsock / flush DNS

No idea what is wrong, but its getting annoying

I build my own PCs, like many others here.

The application is a Journal that I have entries since 1996, hate to not keep using it if I can, it does have a word search & a spell checker along w/ fonts & size. To many years (of memories) to just not use anymore. Amazingly the whole app fits on 1 (3.5" x 1.44 MB) floppy!

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. :applause:

Changing your attitude because you can not change something you do not like, is called FAILING

If you can not change something, kill it.

Check for memory problems by conducting several memory tests. Run WIndows Memory Diagnostic and let it scan for memory problems.

    1. Open your Start Screen, type "Windows Memory Diagnostic".
    2. Open the tool, choose "Restart now and check for problems".

    Turn off Data Execution Prevention.

    1. Open your Start Screen, type "Command Prompt".
    2. Open it as an administrator only.
    3. Type the following command in the window:
    bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

The only appreciable difference between 7 and 8 for me in terms of "missing features" was fixed by a $3 program. It also lets me remove features I don't like. With that in mind, for me, Windows 8 is a net positive.

Anyhow, still waiting for launch day to install 8.1. Waiting a month or more for a windows update to fix everything that's wrong with 8.1 has sounded like a raw deal from the day the first ISO was leaked.

    Windows 8.1 being retarded

Yes, I just recently downloaded Windows 8.1 and every time I open a game like TF2 or Gmod about 5 - 8 minutes in my computer completely turns off, is there anyway to fix this? :(

Just update the video driver for your laptop/pc from manufacturer's side, many of them have been corrected for game softs.

I think 99% of issues with Windows 8.1 are video drivers related. For the NVIDIA Fermi line of cards (Geforce 400 and 500 series) I recommend the 314.22 drivers. Anything newer than that can give you a real hard time.

If you have experience with NVIDIA, can you let me know this. I have 327.23 but found 314.22 and also 310.90 to be good. Can I just do a custom install and clean update to downgrade the driver to earlier version without any issues.

It is a clean downgrade fom 331 to 314.90. No problems with 327 either but I found 314.22 in 3 months of usage to not crash anything. I do not game at all and so 331 or 327 hardly brings in anything more for me than 314.
