Question is... is this a real beta or still an alpha pretending to be one? the 'errors' found cannot be described as obscure can they?
I really don't see what is so hard to understand about beta/preview software... It would be like me going to a car dealership, being told that the car I want to buy is unfinished, has experimental parts inside, and is only recommended to be purchased by an advanced auto mechanic (me not being anywhere near that knowledgeable), me just buying the car anyway totally disregarding everything the dealer mentioned, and then complaining about how unfinished the car is and questioning every part inside the car, and pretty much telling everyone how bad that car sucks. TLDR: It's no secret what this Windows 8.1 Preview is. Treating it like something else is only going to end badly for you... As for what other big-name reviewers are saying about 8.1 Preview, who cares? If they're acting like yourself and expecting perfection from preview software, they're probably not too reputable to begin with and should learn how to review stuff...
The beta fish background has animated bubbles, I'm sure if someone was interested and looked into it, they could come up with some cool animated backgrounds.
I guess, they will not come with stuff like that for productive systems because the entire strategy shows the way off resource eating gimmicks. The preview bubbles are funny but I don't believe that stuff like that will be offered officially on RTM. perhaps some 3rd party apps can do the job
No issues here after upgrade. still it is a preview so even if none works i would not complain. you can click on refresh to factory and problem solved.
I checked out that after creating a new connection, I don´t have the option to connect automatically. Normally after restarting the computer, it shows me a window if I want have a automatically connection to the internet, but nothing happens. All the time I start my computer I must connect to the internet manually.
Well I'm sorry if sounded rude but it seems that you guys are so upset that many users have many problems with the 8.1 Release. Yes I understand it is still just BETA but what I was really pissed about is the way MS went about this whole release. If it was just BETA then why release it to the PUBLIC and make announcements instead of just contacting their testers and serious users through e-mail??? It just seems to me to defeat the whole purpose of trying to attract new Users, especially the ones that are not really tech-savvy, by releasing software in the BETA stage which you have already stated is not perfect but for Evaluation and Testing purposes? Are you guys getting where I'm coming from? Is just all the Hype and Hoopla is what is getting to me and to find out that it's very buggy. Sorry.
You see here is where the disconnect is. MS seemed to HYPE this Release so much so that the PUBLIC "Thinks" that they have re-engineered this whole windows 8 fiasco but so far I have not seen any real difference with 8.1. The much ballyhooed return of the Start Button just takes to the much hated Start Screen. LOL! How much more ludicrous can you get...
People see Windows 8 as a success and a step forward into the future of Computers. I see it differently this is the attempt by Microsoft to further water down the landscape of Desktop Computing and push forward with Mobile Computing. To be matter of fact Windows 8.1 enforces mobile devices further with the branching out of the Metro interface or tablet interface. Lets be blunt about this the new use of the start menu is a piece of crap. Why put something back in which just leads to the metro interface or Start page when it's much easier to do it with the windows button lol? From what I'm seeing Windows 8.1 fixes nothing it merely tries to paint on the bugs of the past or windows 8. Stop Adding s**t to a s**tty OS and give us some bug fixes MS lol.
OK, fine, everybody has it's own view about anything, so you and I and others. What is pissing others off, include I, is that you didn't accepted and take in account that Microsoft has warned the users of Windows 8.1 Preview and suggested that only experienced Users should use it and keep it out of production environment. How and on what way Microsoft, or any other software developer, is "promoting" their upcoming product's, is for sure just up to them and NOT anybody else. If it's pissing you off, just keep out of it. Any polite comment would be appreciated by others but rude comments. Even after receiving complaint-answers you still carry on with your nasty and not fundamental comments, see above. If you've useful infos from your own testings, fine, post them in an normal and polite manner, all would like them! If not, keep them for yourself!
You know this is my last post on this matter. This will be the last time I will respond to peoplethat live in caves and out of touch of reality. You're entitled to your defence of Microsoft, somuch so that you don't even complain even if they feed you crap. Sorry, you have a good day!
A psych would say that those reply is one of an egocentric egoist who only accepts what he think is right and didn't see that he's is just one of billion's of humans who're all imperfect. Who orders the music, would chose what music is played and would pay for the music, also get paid from those who like to listen that already paid music. In terms of Software, doesn't matter what kind of, it's the developer who's order or build those software on and using the way he thinks that's the right one, the needed one or whatsoever. Until that software is ready for to use in an productive environment, he didn't make any profit with it, instead it cost's him a lot in form of time, work, money! If he give that software out for testing before it reaches the final stage, he still didn't makes any money with it, it just even increases the costing for him! And why he's doing that? It's for to ask people with an good will for their comments, wishes, also complains expecting that those people doing that on an polite and friendly way, which is his right to expect just that! People, who didn't have any other comments than insulting accusations are for sure not welcomed by him! Now re-read your post's on this forum again and judge for yourself, what kind of person you are, if you're able to do so! Have a nice day!
Who? Only some fanboys on this site. Statistics show the reality, barely anyone uses win8. It's adoption rate is lower than what vista had, and vista is considered to be a failure by most people.
I'm not a Microsoft fanboy by any means, and yet I use and accept Windows 8, and 8.1. I have seen very few legitimate complaints of Windows 8 and why some people aren't using it, while everyone else seems to hate something specific they either didn't even try, or went in hating it for no reason (I'm talking about Modern UI). But then again, maybe people just don't like change. Just look at how many still praise Windows XP and use top-end hardware (I see people rocking Radeon HD 7xxx series cards and then complaining how some drivers aren't supported on XP...)
Au contraire ... I embrace change - if it's for the better! - There are too many legit complaints on this forum alone to mention... as far as Modern / Metro crap is concerned.. Well apps that consume the whole screen is not "Windows" - its just too in your face - if u are referring to the start screen to launch apps then too, why go through a bunch of icons when you can click on a list menu item - navigation is particularly important in a corporate environment - on my phone it's cool - it fact JellyBean is probably the best OS I've encountered but then it's been designed for a specific purpose!... on my desktop? Nah!
