Windows 8.1 is just a preview. Why update your Windows 8 machine with a preview? As for Windows 8 when it is finally release...Nobody but Microsoft can answer that question with certainty at this moment. Those Preview Keys with the ISO at MS are good for 180 days I believe. It is stated how long in the Preview Faqs at MS site. I doubt you will be able to update the Preview to release without a fresh install, but maybe. KMS activation will no doubt still work with Windows 8.1 Release when released. It appears from the forums here that it works with 8.1 preview but for 45 days. There is no Volume license release at this point.
So far afaik no ISO for Win 8.1 Enterprise Preview is available, so nut sure whether you´ll be able to upgrade or will have to do a fresh install. As Preview is automatically activated and timebombed, no need for additional efforts . For Preview so far the Win 8 RC gVLKs are working (same applies for the Leaked Builds). But as explained, this matters only for testing purposes.
Not completely correct. KMS activation for Preview works same way as in Win 8 RTM for 180days. Normally a real KMS Host will refuse acivating Pro WMC and Core versions although there exist gVLK for. The KMS Emulators in opposite activate those both, but only for 30 days in Win 8 RTM and for 45 days now in Preview.
Yes, Im sure that Enterprise has not been released for several reasons. 1. everybody bitched about no LEAKS. so they released crap... 2. KMS still activates PreView for 180days if used properly. GVLK 3. Timebomb has been defeated, so Activation is good with KMS. 4. watermark is totally gone after expire date, (automatic) 4a. watermark can be removed more than 1 way.... so that is no problem. 5. Buggy crap only makes people want to test the next release even more.....(hahahaha funny that people are that way.) I wonder why (Its FREE, its Beta (Preview) so what all the bitching and gritching about it....
Windows 8 is a giant blow against freedom. Microsoft envies Apple Computer's walled garden and hates open source and free software. Microsoft should realize that the Windows OS dominates the market largely due to the efforts of thousands of software developers who make great free or inexpensive software for the platform.
Whiznot seems to forget that it's totally up to HIM to use or not to use MS Product and that includes the Paid Apps/OS's as well as the Freeware Apps MS is providing! Nobody is taking HIS Freedom to chose what HE is wanting! On the other hand Microsoft is an company who is producing Software (mainly) which cost quite a bit of money (for to developing) and they providing thousands of workplace for people to earn their monthly income too! There were hardly build any company without the goal for to make money with their development, product's, service or whatsoever! Many fact's could be said why all that have to be so as it is and that companies like MS have to follow the same "Rules" of business as any other company around the planet Earth! But it would be useless to do so! Facit is very easy: If you didn't like a product from whom ever, don't use it, even not as unpaid pirated apps!
The Enterprise version is typically meant for businesses, schools etc where the Server workstation wouldn't be required. Maybe that's a slight oversimplification, but the basic principle is there. It's for this reason that the Enterprise version has not been leaked, because the preview version of Windows 8.1 isn't intended for widespread deployment where the Enterprise version would be used.
You're right to some extend. But the Enterprise version are special for Multiactivation which are mainly not required to be connected to the Microsoft activation servers and that includes the Volume Licensing and MAK!
I FEEL THE SAME AS MOST OF PEOLE WHO BLOG ON THIS FORUM!!!! IT'S A LOT OF B.S...mOST OF US DOM'T HAVE TOUCH SCREENS AND WIN 8 IS A BIG LAUGH....Sorry not yelling just forgot the cap locks was as on...Anyway win 8 is a wash out for those who cant afford a touch screen ..you are screwed!
It's not only the affordability of touchscreens, it's the practicality. For using normal applications you use a keyboard and mouse, so instead of a simple click, you physically smudge (oops press) the screen to load what you want to load. The result is, even if you did have a touchscreen, you probably wouldn't use it! They're not too expensive (the whole computers, considering), and they are reasonably common at least in terms of availability. That said, the specs etc aren't exactly exhilarating.
And that's what ppl believe untill they actually get a touchscreen. I've been using an HP Envy AIO for about 6 months. I can't believe how natural touching becomes, I mean I had to get used to a mouse the first time I tried, and I remmeber how painfull was get use to a trackball (took me like a month of frustration and hate). Touch is just natural, u dont have to get use to it. I do use the mouse still, I use the kb, touch didn't replace them, but I do use the touch too, a lot, at the point that I find myself over and over trying to touch the screen on old pcs when I have to use them, and it's so annoying. I agree, sometimes a click is simpler, but there are many situations when a "pressing" the screen is faster, simpler and natural. U have to use a touchscreen to understand the answer to the classic "Why would I want to touch my big screen?"
I've to agree with you to some extend but all. Using touch screen for a few years already on Tablet's and Restaurant POS computers, I'm really use to it and I also like them. That differs quite a bit on Desktop! Main problem for me isn't the Touch Screen itself it's the close distance you need to have them to you if you really like to use that "touch". For User's like me, who need to use Reading Glasses already, I would need to use even an extra pair of glasses for to use with the touchscreen because of the closer distance. Also the size of the desktop monitor play's it role. And I use 2 at the same Screens (23") at the same time. As everything, it's really depend on how and for what you'll or need to use an Touch Screen!
metro start screen needs to be revamped. if you want to run any application with high end graphic processor then you must have to first go to desktop start screen and then run from here that application. here is screen shot: (I have nvidia graphic processor of 1 GB in addition of intel's integrated onboard graphics) but this option is not available from the metro start screen : look at the below picture: or am I doing something wrong or missing something?
Oops! My mistake! You run Windows 8.1 and here you get an Arrow down lower left. Click on that Arrow and you get all Apps on Start Screen! Hope that's the right one!
