Windows 8.1 only from the windows store?

    You know I've seen that people (That own Windows 8) will only get a free upgrade to windows 8.1 through the windows store app.
    Is this the truth?, if it is I'm going to probably not be able to get my upgrade that I deserve...
    I have dial up and the windows store app hates this kind of connection for some stupid reason.

    So you guys think that Microsoft distribute it any other way other then the Windows store app?
    I'm hoping that there will be some sort of free iso we can get instead of getting through the windows store.

    Hmm... I'm guess Dial up is out of date huh. lol
    No really though, I live in the middle of nowhere so dial up is the only think I can get at the moment.

    You do not have to be only in Fort Scott, Kansas to have Dial Up... many places in the 4th World called U.S.A. have slow internet....
    some places do not even have Satellite Internet Available....

    PSS: I know Dorothy from Liberal, even tho I do not live there.

    It's simple, if the phone co. decides that it's not worth the cost to provide broadband to your region then you are out of luck. :D

    If OP has a smartphone with web connection he can share it with his PC.

    So you guys think you can download free upgrade without having to through the windows store?
    I mean I thought it was not going to available free though any other means besides the windows store.

    Seeing how there are already versions of 8.1 circling the www- then most likely the final version of it will be as well.

    Yeah you guys are probably right. I guess I've been thinking to hard about this crap.

    If MS does that (and I highly doubt it) then they are more screwed up than Ballmar at the blue oyster.

    If we can download the 8.1 upgrade by the store and keep the file in HDD, it's ok.

    don't worry. there will be a version for all of us as a single iso file. Them loading it directly through store get the update and all others do either clean install or a regular upgrade like done from 7 > 8 (similar)

    I didn't understand the second sentence. Why you think we need to loading the iso file directly through store to get the update ?

    brrb. Store updates can be done by those having a "genuine" W8 and then simply get their files through it.
    New customers not having an 8.1 can "purchase" an iso and install as usual onto a clean HDD or upgrade their W8 by using this iso doing nothing else like upgrading from 7 > 8 = 8 > 8.1
