8.1 Pro VL has no option to add WMC and it can be activated via Genuine Retail or the latest KMS Loaders.
8.1 Pro Retail has an option to add WMC and can only be activated via Genuine Retail or MAK/KMS Keys.

yes you can, but you can't upgrade to 8.1 pro wmc later that's all.
both iso can be install clean or upgrade.

How come every time I install the English VL ISO, it always hangs up when I click on click on check for updates. It'll just continue to search for updates until I reset the PC then check for updates again and then it'll tell me what I need in a few minutes.

I've tried this on many different desktops/laptops and it always hangs up on the the first time you run updates. Anybody else get this error?

im using this iso btw en_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x64_dvd_2971948.iso which matches the hashes as the one OP posted.
