I'm currently on 8.1 with all of the updates from Windows Update. And I can say from using it that it needs a lot of help. The latest Nvidia beta driver is not functioning properly with 8.1 even though it lists 8.1 is the list of supported OSs. The latest Logitech mouse driver is not working properly with 8.1. On the other hand, my internet upload and download speeds seem slightly faster with 8.1 versus 8.0. Chrome works well but Internet Explorer doesn't; each window wants to open at 175% resolution. I set the resolution back to 100% but IE doesn't remember the setting change. I sure hope that Microsoft and the hardware driver people at Nvidia and Logitech have useable drivers soon.
You'll only know what crap it is AFTER you tested it on your own! Never give anything about what others telling, in many cases it's just nothing more then not existing ability for to get things working and done! Just my 2 Satang's!
You should say "thanks for letting me know. But, I will try (The RTM)." We will not say again that this is not the final RTM. Judge after trying the RTM version, after that you may say what you want. I'm not defending M$, but, I want it to be a fair game, that's it
I got the sarcasm too. Seems to me, just before the release of a beta/preview/RTM/whatever a large cloud of grumpy forms over this board. Also, I believe that I am able to decide all by myself for myself, whether an OS is good/bad/really bad/POS/sucko/crappy/etc. I do thank all those who try to make that decision for me, you remind me of my 4 ex-wives...
I forced myself to move to 8 early, just to have a better understanding of it. Now, after running 8 for so long... 7 feels weird, I actually feel that I get things done faster with 8. I went into it apprehensively, but like any OS that I will need to use daily, it gets the job done at the end of the day. I still only see the start screen at boot and occasionally when I open something or search. I do like just hitting Winkey and typing defender and enter and its up on the screen, as an example.
