Yes it came with Windows 8 Core. The OS is corrupted and I do not want to use the recovery partition to reinstall. This way I would have less updates and remove the bloatware from the start. I thought I could add the $OEM$ from the Multi OEM project to the sources directory and do a clean install. I will then make sure everything is working and activated and then remove the recovery partition.

It's for the pieces of files you didn't select to download. Small parts of them will download anyway, since everything is downloaded in blocks. One block can contain pieces of multiple files, and if some do not belong to your selection they will be placed into this directory. Blocks need to be downloaded completely for hash verification. Note that other clients have similar mechanisms.
no, there is this hidden folder : /.unwanted which has 3 or 4 localized svf .exes and they are downloaded totally, not partial.
If those files are not too big that might be. Of course there could always be a fault in the torrent client...
