Because MS is focusing on W9, they have already burried W8-1, so there will be no Update 2 and no visible features. Their new slogan is: "We deliver new OS in each three months." I think however, that it is NOT in the interest of user to reinstall OS each year, just for bigger Metro Tiles or Metro applications in windows. (Since those features are stupid anyway.)
to be accurate: MS will deliver all updates for current OS untill W9 RTMs 2015 but they certainly do not issue new .isos for the latest updated version of W8.1 shown on MSDN or TechNet
Windows 8.1 falls under the same lifecycle policy as Windows 8, and will reach end of Mainstream Support on January 9, 2018, and end of Extended Support on January 10, 2023.
absolutely correct bud, I only wanted to point out that MS doesn't stop any kind of service for current OSes, Thanks and apology to anyone who misunderstood my explanation above
The reason I asked this is that the update KB2975719 169.6mb continues to fail to update on two different machines that I have.
Do you have the requirements for the update to install. and for reference which KB2975719 are you trying to install since I have more than one
Just a quick correction to several posts above: There is no Windows 8.1 "UPDATE 1", just Windows 8.1 "WITH UPDATE". No number, no continuation. Just an independent update that will not be repeated. So there can never be an "UPDATE 2" if there never was an "UPDATE 1" to begin with.
