Have no use for a new program as Acronis is perfectly working for me (using it from an usb-pen only because it's very invasive when installed ). Will test the GPT backup the next days on a friends machine with Win 8.1 Core in Secure Boot. BTW: What a nonsense to create a new 'BIOS' system which can only use an outdated Format Standard on pen-drives. Do some people actually think before burning energy...?

I read in an tecnolgy news web site that I attend to several years, and which has proved very reliable, that Microsoft has scheduled this update to improve the resources management to encourage the production of low cost tablet and expand the market share of Windows 8.x, and of course to make some improvements to the UI to make it more accessible to novice users.
I install the AOMEI Backup program because I dual boot. If I screw up one version of Windows (and I often do), I can boot up in the other version and restore from there.

They are breaking into the market by offering the best free product. Not unusual, macrium did it a few years ago, and partition wizard used the same technique. Get yourself known without a huge advertising budget. New free versions with even more functions are on the way from Aomei. There will be a paid version also in the future.

No idea what you mean replicable? The question was asked how can they manage to give out such a capable free version. It is a competitive field. This is the way a new entrant can get in among the already established players. It isn't the first time this technique has been used as I mentioned before. I can say improvements and more functions are planned for the free version, and that there will also be a paid version. That explains why the free version is so good and will get even better.
