    Windows 8.1 Update hangs

Hello, everyone I have been using Windows 8.1 64 bit for nearly 1 year now but have always had the pronlem with Windows update, the problem are as below:

    1) Windows update service hang as soon as I try to click Windows update in Control panel

    2) windows keep on looking for avaiable update for over 30 minutes and still can't find avialble updates, when I know the updates have aviable.

    3) Windows hangs when trying to install updates as in case of installing x oy y updates

in all these above scenario I have been having the problem for several times and have installed fresh copy of OS and all the rest of the common software but the problem would countinue even after fresh installtion (as experinced at least 3 times previously)

previous solution has been applied including:
    - fresh installtion of the OS
    - restoring system image
    - applying start up repair

as well as Windows Update dignostic tool provided by Microsoft, which keep on scanning for over 30 minutes and do nothing to eliminate the problem.

Your help will be greeatly appreciated.

If you're not using Windows 8.1 "with Update" then it won't have the 2919355 update that updates all the system files to a new image version.
The old image version does not work the first time you install with Windows Update.
It has something to do with the way Setup starts the various services.

you can fix the problem by opening admin prompt (winkey+x, then a)
    Then type
    net stop wuauserv

Then re-starting windows update check for updates.
