which W8 enterprise language version did you install at first place ?
Did you install a language pack later?
If you want to upgrade to 8.1, you need to use the original language iso and you can keep everything. The lp pack will be uninstalled and you need to re-install the new one for your location
    perhaps this helps

    @Paul
-installed win 8 enterprise en/x64 and didn't fiddle with language packs

    -tried among others with WIN8.1.ENTERPRISE.RTM.x64.WITH.ROLLUP-1.EN sha1: AE792B2EF982DAC7391224B624EAB8D6340D78AB
to update in-place to no avail (only keep option offered where "personal files" and "nothing")

-so I did already exactly what you suggest ...and NO "I cannot keep everything"

-this limitation of the GA bits with the Enterprise version is by design and needs to be considered as an established fact

-only the restricted available VLSC enterprise version unlocks the In-place update...(which is stated elsewhere in mydigital ) what explains my interest to have it identified by it's sha1

this is weird. At my end it worked exactly like I described above for one of my machines where I installed English version first when it was leaked last year. Then I used the German lp pack and all was fine. Recently when I tried to upgrade keeping all programs and data, I was told to only keep data or nothing. I was puzzled because had forgotten that I did not install at my language in the first place.
So I downloaded the new English enterprise, installed and could keep all data, programs and settings

well then... what is the sha1 signature of the "new English enterprise" media which allowed you to make a full in-place update to 8.1 ?

So with exactly same the media (identical sha1) you managed an in-place update (keeping everything) of a kms activated x64 win 8 enterprise copy....something which I repeatedly was unable to achieve !

Beyond being simply unfair this is indeed weird. Where is the catch !

OK, Sry if im silly :p

I have installed 8.1 PRO RTM and activated through phone-skype activation, I downloaded the 3 GA updates and installed the updates and working fine!
NOW, the final 8.1 is released, if I want to install 8.1 in a new machine, what build I should install?
There are PRO ISOs available with GA updates applied, but there is no separate final ISOs from MS?
    Im confused:confused:

LOL you misunderstood he did updated from a Genuine Windows 8 Enterprise x64 (Not the one with activated with KMS / MTK from here). If you have a legit Key installed you should be able to update well. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hello people please don't get confused with the latest Pro VL release it is not meant for home users, only corporates. Windows 8.1 Retail edition RTM / MSDN release can be installed in new PC and run the Windows Update. Cheers

So once you have the Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Volume ISO (en_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x64_dvd_2971948 with Rollup-1) how to upgrade from Windows 8.0 Pro Volume, please...

Do I mount 8.1 ISO within 8.0 and run setup or boot the PC from 8.1. Many thanks in advance

To all Windows 8.1 Enterprise with update users:

yesterday I installed windows 8.1 enterprise with update which is downloaded from this forum. I faced few problems which I could not find if it is bug in the software or Microsoft has done it.

    1. When I click on start menu, the task bar appears 2 seconds in the modern UI and it disappears and it never comes back.

    2. If i have to select 2 or more apps I need to press ctrl key then select.

    3. To move 2 or more apps I should be pressing ctrl key while moving.

    4. When I close Metro apps then immediately jump to desktop though I don't select the navigation in the task bar properties.

These are the bugs I have found till now... are you all having same problems. is this the way Microsoft has done its update or am I missing something here. Pls advice.
