Yup, already saved the pastebin data. Thanks, looking up the second link now. The laptop has Win8. Win7 on my desktop, and I intend to keep it that way. No yeah, I understand that. Was just pondering over what "+7" meant.
Guys sorry for the n00b question, i don't have windows 8 already. 1.do i have to get windows 8 iso or esd before getting these files. or these are complete operating systems? . 2.can i just iso the esd file as said and install and go? 3.do i need a key to install? 4. can i use kmspico on this?....remember I don't have windows 8 already. i'm on metered internet i don't want to waste data downloading wrong files.
#1. The Store ESDs need to be decrypted and than repacked in order to use them. See Spoiler beneath '==Usage==' for instructions and tools/scripts. #2. To activate with KMSpico or MTK Professional would be recommended .
So i can download the esd as it's is smaller than the iso provided in the bootcamp thread right? for example, if i download the windows 8.1 pro with media center esd 2.49 gb and convert it to iso, i would be able to install complete windows 8.1 EVEN IF I DON'T HAVE windows 8 in my pc? edit : i'm on metered net..that's why i'm seeking smaller files, sorry if i'm annoying.
Only the ESD is needed, not any other ISO. To create an ISO you need the package you find in the Spoiler beneath '==Usage==' in first post.
My laptop came with Windows 8.1 and a key but no dvd disc to reinstall it. The laptop is loaded with junk, rather just reformat. Is there a legal way to download the iso from Microsoft servers?
Hmm .... you can buy the media from them . The versions offered here are the same as the ones offered by MS .
Don't want to buy the disc, can burn it. Only versions offered here require some kind of decrypting method, way beyond me. I'll keep looking.
Download the decryption. Extract to a directory. Download the .esd file. Place in extracted script directory. Run admin prompt and navigate to that directory: Code: forfiles /m *.esd /c "cmd /c decrypt @FILE" If you placed the script extract directory as c:\decrypt\ you would navigate to that by running: Code: cd /d "C:\decrypt\" Take your time bud, we're here to help.
I am reporting back on the Windows 8.1 clean installation. I can confirm Windows activates without any hassle on an OEM device (Lenovo G505, in my case). Here were the steps: Code: 1. Backed up the Win8 product key <-- This step is very important. Do not forget 2. Downloaded the proper ESD file from the repository (Win8.1 x64CoreSingleLanguage en-US) 3. Downloaded qad-decryptor-v4 7zip file 4. Extracted the contents of qad-decryptor-v4.7z into a folder ("Decrypt", in my case) 5. Copied the ESD file into "Decrypt" folder 6. Opened CMD with admin rights in the same folder 7. Entered the command decrypt [ESDfilename.esd] to start the process 8. Selected option 4, which decrypts the ESD file and converts it into a standard ISO file 9. Downloaded Rufus, and created a bootable USB drive 10. Started install via proper generic retail key (CoreSingleLanguage in my case) 11. Opened CMD with admin rights and entered the commands below 12. Installed product key via command slmgr /ipk 13. Activated via slmgr /ato
I had a new Acer and also a new Dell come to town, full of junk or crap as many say. MS does offer FREE a Download of Windows Pro which has Core also.... simply DL from M$ (FREE) then burn to your favorite Boot Media. cd/dvd or usb... (now the Acer was default to boot to #1 - USB #2 Harddrive the Dell was default to DVD and then Harddrive. so I burnt as required, insert media, reboot computer and clean install to the same Partition as Windows was installed in. then click shutdown when done... you can then remove the USB or DVD as you chose.. Restart the Computer, and you should be 100% GOOD, clean install, Activated and NO CRAPWARE. You do not need a KEY for the new since embedded in the BIOS ...
Hi guys, newbie here, I have a few questions. So I'm downloading the Windows 8.1 with update x64 now, and I'm puzzled by the size of the file which is only 2.5gb. Must I already have Windows 8 installed on my PC first to use this installation? I'm currently using a "cracked" Windows 7 and I'm thinking of dual-booting with the Windows 8.1 Single language that I'm downloading. My Laptop has an Windows 8.1 OEM key that came with it and I'm wondering whether the pirated license of the Windows 7 will conflict with the original license of the Windows 8 when I dualboot? Thanks for your helps!
Read the preserving win8.x oem activation sticky. Then install win8.1 with the default retail key. After install, change key to your oem key. There are a few programs that read the oem key from bios. The file is small because it is compressed more aggressively with their newer recovery compression algorithm for esd files. They could probably even compress it much more if they separated the winre.wim from the install image. As far as keeping your win7 "cracked" version activated, it depends how you install win8.1. If you install using UEFI, it will have to re-partition your system to use GPT partition scheme. Normal Win7 loaders use MBR (BIOS-Boot). There is a UEFI comparable version, but it's complicated to set up. You can look it up in the MDL Projects section as "WindSLIC" or... You can install a KMS-activatable version of Win7 such as Professional or Enterprise, and use Microsoft Toolkit. Since the KMS activation does not modify any boot information or system files, you can use it with UEFI or BIOS; your pick.
Ok, thanks for the quick reply. I've already read through the preserving sticky thread. Few more questions. Do you mean the "KMS" keys that I can find in your previous threads at Spoiler pastebin blabla i cant make links ?? I need your opinion on the Windows 8.1 single language that I'm downloading. Is it stable? I used to get memory leaking issues. Coz I'm considering ditching my pirated windows 7..... What do you think? Windows 7 vs Windows 8.1 Single language. Thx!
I am a bit curious about what is the difference between decryption options 3 and 4? Install.esd v/s .wim
