Yup. Installation from Sandisk Extreme 64GB USB Stick to Corsair Force GT 128 GB SSD. AHCI mode.

    (Once it starts copying files)
Wim method: Total installation time: 3 Minutes
Esd method: Total installation time: 6 minutes.

    So there is a difference.

Just wanted to ask a quick question. But it appears that it could become a couple of paragraphs...
Lenovo, Dell, HP these days do not provide installation/recovery DVD with a new laptop(because of "piracy" concern, "fed regulations" etc). They instead make a recovery partition on the laptop's HD. This partition becomes useless after update to Windows 8 Pro and especially 8.1. No option to refresh or reinstall because of "recovery media not found" error after 8.1 update.
Anyway, corporations are happy to sell you a recovery disc for a "small fee" ranging from $69 to $129 depending on a sales person.
Theoretically, you should be able to burn a media on M$ web site with your key, but it should be a retail version key. Nothing for OEM.
Lets say you are savvy and want to burn an recovery image yourself. Which one to chose from if on laptop you originally had a Windows 8 basic, upgraded to media center, then to pro and then to Windows 8.1 : should it be Core, Pro, Enterprise etc.? I do not want to invalidate the original key also (which I extracted from BIOS via RWEverything).
Sorry for the long post. Hope one day somebody will make a tutorial for that. Best of luck in your digital lives to everybody!:D

Your downloaded ISO = Vanilla 8.1
ESD in this thread = Vanilla 8.1 + Update 1

    So ESD is better.

It's cheaper not to provide a DVD. They all give you an option to backup the Recovery. A lot of systems these days don't even include an optical drive. Just backup to USB.
If your recovery is 8.0 & you update to Pro/Update 1/etc you can manually create a backup image that is used to Refresh your PC.
From an admin command prompt run: "recimg -CreateImage C:\RefreshImage"
Note that if you RESET, it'll revert back to 8.0...

Question about the pro with WMC. Will that install and activate with a WMC key?

If you use option 2 or 4, it will put in the generic tokens so that you can activate with wmc key.
Keep in mind that if your hardware changes more than 1x per year, you may have to phone activate with "slui 4"

I tried using SW_DVD9_Win_Pro_8.1_64BIT_Brazilian_-2_MLF_X19-49639.iso converted from ESD provided (Option 4).

But setup cannot accept J8D3P or 9D6T9 keys!

Which one can I use to install?

    Tried C9WKB and JK7QT too!
