full iso? .esd file is more or less install.wim, but not have setup.exe, etc, so it is not a full iso .
I tried to service the latest released .esd offline after coverting to .wim and there are 5 superseded permanent KBs that cannot be removed normally. From what I've read, you need to find the .mum for the KBs and delete the permancy= keyword from the .mum. None of the files below (offline mount\Windows\servicing\Packages\*.mum had this keyword. What am I doing wrong? Code: Removing package 1 to 5 of 5 packages 18:27:24.07 Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 6.3.9600.17031 Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031 Processing 1 of 5 - Package_for_KB2990532: Permanent package cannot be uninstalled. Those updates are not permanent by themselves (like servicing stack update), they just cannot be uninstalled because they are now represent the base of current system components in order to remove them, they must be superseded in the image (integrate the superseding updates), and you have to run "Dism /ResetBase" process ro uninstall them
It's just the released media tag Code: Windows 8.1 RTM = IRM (in iso label) First Store Upgrade (GA) = IR1 Second Store Upgrade = IR2 Third one (Update 1) = IR3 Fourth and current one = IR4 and i guess we might see another one before Windows 10 RTM
Ahh, okay. So if I only install the superseding updates 2977302, 2977629, 2987114, 2975719, 2976978-v2, and 2995004, then do a resetbase, I will have a .wim with nothing to remove after which I can add the remaining updates. Is that correct? Edit: My logic was wrong since /resetbase won't work on the offline image after installing superseding updates since they now have a pending status.
Thank you for the updated Store ESD files. But it is missing a whole lot of links. - Pro/ProN/Core/CoreN in other languages then English Can murphy78 or anyone find those links also? There were direct links available to those SKU's with the original Windows 8.1 Update.
Hi everyone, I used to use Murphy78's monthly Windows ISO. Is this IR4 build a better source for installating updated Windows on new computers? Thanks for any reply
These are from MS and are about half-updated. My monthly versions are fully updated, at least to the patch tuesday point. It's always 'safer' to install a ms original image. I try to avoid making registry mods or incorrect integration practices. I also test my work. The choice is up to you. They're both good options in my opinion.
Hey @murphy78, I'm attempting to install 8.1 Pro WMC en-US using ISOs created with ESD Decrypter v3c from your IR4 torrent linked in the first post. I've tried both decryption option 3 (ESD) and 4 (WIM), but when I attempt to boot I get "No images are available." Ideas on how to fix this?
