    hello softeac2
    Thanks for the Reply...
I am a little Dazed at the Frenzy Today...
I understand...Genuine Retail Key needed right now...
install with the Retail Install key
    Activate with MY Retail Key
Install add features and use MY Media Center Key
    And Presto....all activated..
I first read your Post and thought you may have discovered a rabbit hole like when we could install win8 and activate with kms then upgrade to media center....for FREE with perm activation....OH Well For Now...
BUT I will be Listening for the Fixes to Come Soon....:D Thanks Again for Your Answer...

I know this is a little off topic for this thread, but THAT IS F***ED up!
If I were a dev I'd be pissed.

Hmmm...interesting, i can enter my keys on an upgraded Pro to ProWMC, it takes all my test WMC keys. It activated some of them properly, refuses others.

On my second VM is running ProWMC installed from a prepared ProWMC ISO. Here it refuses to take any key i offer.

Yah they fixed that but I read someone saying that you could use a data.dat from an activated 8.1 install and then you could actually enter the key.
I'm not sure if they meant before or after install.

You can try the one from a fresh 8.1 pro retail install I have:
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx*

try mounting the index, replace the data.dat from mounted: "%windir%\system32\spp\store\2.0\"

*Edit: Yen doesn't like sharing data.dat

    You are using Windows 8.0
You have to use Windows 8.1 ADK preview/rtm tools or it lags out on a lot of the new dism commands.

    Hi Friends:

I have the following procedure but it didn't work for me...

Windows 8.1 + WMC Creation and Activation Guide

    Pre-Requesites:
    ImageX
    Windows 8.1 RTM ISO
    Windows 8 Installed

    ------------------------------------

On your C: drive, make a folder called Win81WMC, and inside of that, put your Install.Wim and ImageX (If not in system dir), and create a folder called "Mount"

    Then run the following code:

    Code:

    Dism /mount-wim /wimfile:C:\win81\install.wim /index:3 /mountdir:C:\win81\mount

    Dism /Image:C:\win81\mount /Get-TargetEditions

    Dism /Image:C:\win81\mount /Set-Edition:professionalWMC

    Dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:C:\win81\mount /commit

imagex /flags "ProfessionalWMC" /info C:\win81\install.wim 3 "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center"

Then rebuild your ISO and Install!

Your Windows 8.1 Key should be accepted during installation and it will install.

I recommend you activate over the phone, but truthfully, I don't think it matters.

EDIT:If you're using the WZT ISO, change the index number to 1, not 3!

    Can you help me please?

    Thanks

    TecMan

think you need to read the method again, as you seem to be trying to mount index 3???

    Hi NICK@NUMBER11:

First, thank you for all your help...and thanks for reply my post and my question...

This method has a little inconvenience...it recommended to make a folder called Win81WMC but into the commands does not exist a Win81WMC directory, just Win81 directory...

I did that change into the commands but it didn't work for me

That's why I need your help

    Thanks
