Didn't work for me I'm afraid, just said I didn't meet eligibility requirements... Don't forget the OEM SLP keys aren't displayed on the COA sticker; they give you a COA serial number instead.

 

It really shouldn't matter. A SLIC serial number is still a valid one. When they requested mine, that is what I gave them and it was accepted.

 

I tried with the SLIC keys, but without success.. i cant get a key

Try registering with a different browser; doesn't ask for a key if you use Chrome

 

For me both IE and chrome asked for key, but then I tried registered from my VM running Ubuntu which didn't ask for any key and was successful .

if i want a clean install of win8 pro..can anyone specify the method used to activate with upgrade key.i have read the whole thread but still confused.

from what i know:

after installation disconect from internet

change in registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE -> Change "MediaBootInstall" from "1" to "0"

type "slmgr /rearm" into a command prompt, waited for confirmation, restart

after restart, connect to internet, activate

I just wanted to let everyone know on Friday I did use my 14.99 license with a Windows 8 Pro MSDN disc and I was able to reformat my entire hard drive (full wipe - bare) and install Windows 8 with my 14.99 License and when I logged in... it activated successfully twice.

BTW, the first time I did a full wipe (coming from a Windows 7 Daz loader activated instance - saving old windows) and I used my 14.99 License. I ended up using my MSDN disc to do the full wipe because I couldnt get my sound to work after the upgrade (first attempt). So i did a full wipe and reformat and used the key a second time (mentioned above) and that activated fine also. However, sound still does not work. I require the Conexant Pebble High Definition Audio driver which installs fine and has no issues, but audio doesn't just play at all.

Bottomline, I ended up going back to Windows 7, because I need sound. Just sucks because the driver doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 8 even though it installs properly with no issues in device manager. Maybe Conexant will put out an updated driver, but until then...I'm back on Windows 7 on my Laptop :\

I just wanted to let you guys know the 14.99 key CAN be used on a clean reformatted drive as long as you use a MSDN disc.
