That's true, it's easy to get a free WMC key and have the OS activated easily.

Even if after Jan 31, the WMC pack is just $9.9, much cheaper than $14.99. :D

Yes, but why they should do on their own? There so many "knowledgeable" Members on MDL why not get the required infos by asking without the need of doing that in self work?

Is it possible to do clean install, for example install windows 8 pro with a core key, then later just activate it with upgrade key?

I don't know how but I got it to work today. About 30 attempts later no success on repeating. I still need 2 more promos. If someone could help me it would be nice. I know a lot of people ask but please help me cause I need this. I've already put $65 in to windows 8 but like I said I still need 2 more.

All I can say is some how it still works. I did it with a fresh install of chrome on a another windows 8 that I paid the $40 on.

I have an Unactivated Windows 7 Ultimate Key that I have purchased back in 2010. However, It is not being accepted to get a promocode ! if it was not activated it does not qualify ?

A quick info... I'm at work and got no time to read the entire thread (I've read the first 10 pages).
I've got a Windows 7 Ultimate on my home PC (assembled by me 2 years ago), activated with a valid product key from my old (not renewed) technet subscrition. I've read I can't upgrade from this kind of product key and if I want to be "regular" I need to buy a full retail product.
Now... I successfully tried to get my upgrade code for 14.99€ entering infos from my WORK pc (an hp with Windows 7 Professiona x64, bought 1 year ago) but I don't really want to upgrade it, and got the mail from MS with the promotional code.
Can I use this one to activate successfully my home PC? Can I do a clean installation (on a new HDD)?

    Thanks.

Today I get the upgrade key from the promo code purchase, but It can not be use to activate a fresh Windows 8 Pro, Last month the key upgrade able to activate a fresh install. Any work around to activate this key on clean installation with doing a upgrade process first just like the trick on Windows 7 ?

If you use an RTM ISO for a clean install, it will works with no problems. Do NOT use an Upgrade ISO, that will need to first to take a "Look" at your installed Windows 7!

I use RTM ISO, Last month I also bought a upgrade key and can directly activate the upgrade key on a fresh install Windows 8. Maybe now Microsoft have aware about this and the Activation Server will check Windows 8 status (clean or upgrade) before they grant a Activation.

But this time, the upgrade key won't be accepted by Windows 8, I have tried edit registry trick, but Windows 8 still warning that the key can not be use on clean installation.

Beware, when you doing a upgrade process directly on Windows 8, The upgrade will wipe out your existing Windows 8 and backup your windows 8 to a folder name windows.old

But I already solved this. My solution is backup my Windows 8 (the one that clean install) using backup software like Acronis, Ghost, or Easeus. Backup location can be External Hard disk or onto Drive D, After that I run Windows 8 Setup on Windows 8 environment, installation will ask for an upgrade key, this is the moment we should input the upgrade key. After installation done, We will have a clean Windows 8, but the Windows 8 status is activated.

Backup the activation file using Advanced Tokens Manager. Save the backup files on a safe place. These files will be restore later.

Restore Windows 8 using the backup image that we created on the first step. Restore the image to drive C.

After the recovery process complete, Restore the activation files using ATM, Viola Windows 8 Activated.

    Sorry for the bad English

If you make an image of a w8 instalation that has been activated it will restore activated providing its on the same machine. It will restore onto a different size hard drive and will be activated.

Why you guy's couldn't stop begging for Promo Codes and/or free Keys?

Are you not able to read:
    1. the rules of this forum
    2. related thread's/post/s
There so many way to get Windows 8 fully activated even without paying 1 Cent, the only things you've to do is take the time and read the forum post's! And NOT let other do the work for you!

No one said we were asking for skeetly attained keys. We're asking for promos. Maybe we read it wrong. There's an old saying that really has nothing to do with this but i'm going to say it."I need a couple keys" what it means i don't know but here's another "help a brother out"

Also that free method leaves me worried. I've paid $40 and I've paid $15 for windows 8. At least I can reinstall with real keys.

My problems is I use 4 computers in my home and I want them all to be 8 and legit. There's a way here. I been trying for 3 days only to find out how to get this done. I found out how to get one to work, not sure how. Again what am I talking about it's late and I have trouble expressing myself through typing.

First at all: Help yourself! That should be stand at first place!

Help yourself is starting to read the forum for related content, in this regard: How I get my Windows 8 activated!

If you guys had done that, you didn't had any more a question about a promo Code, a Key or similar! ALL Information regarding How To ...., are available you just need to read! Is that to much? Seems to be because you guy's are begging and let others do what you could do by yourself!

Nobody like to do the work for other's which they could do easily on their own!
