I wonder how many of you ran into purchase problem with Windows Upgrade Assistant So I received my promotion code, so I downloaded and kicked off Windows Upgrade Assistant. Enter all the correct payment information, and pasted in the promo-code, and hit Purchase.. Bam! "We couldn't process your order...please check that you entered your payment information correctly" So I doubled checked..and tripled checked...tried again... Bam! Same issue So I was like "okay.. I guess I can use a different credit card..." Bam! Same problem So I called my credit card company, and they said "well, we see two pending charges here...but we approved both of them automatically. There are no blocks or holds in place. You need to get in touch with Microsoft to figure this out on their end" So I was like "great... fine..lets call Windows Upgrade Support @ 877-254-4698" On the support line, the service rep quickly picked up the phone, I was like "Wow..this guy has heavy Chinese accent and speaks broken English to me.." (I know because I am Chinese). He kept saying "You have order number? reference number?" "No, I don't have it.. your Upgrade Assistant gave me no such number. It only says 'we couldn't process your order'" "eh... I can't help you... transfer you to tech support?" "No! it is not an issue with my operating system or network connection. It is your payment system having problem! I checked with my card company and they said the transaction went through successfully, but your software says it can't process my order. Can you process my order on your end?" "No no.. you are the one to do it.." "eh.. well, if that's the case, I guess I will have to ditch the plan to use Windows 8" "you try later? maybe less busy?" "eh no.. it is not a problem with busy traffic. It has to do with your upgrade assistant fails to process my order even though it successfully creates pending charges against my card" "okay have nice day" "yeah thanks bye" ---- Update 1 One last thing.. PM me if you want that promo code. I have no use for it now that I can't buy Windows 8 with my money Update 2 Nevermind, I got through with PayPal as my payment choice, and finally received the key for installation
promo code can not be used more than once.were you able to use it twice with different cards? from which OS did you do the purchase, there seem to be problem when you do the purchase from win 8.
I had the same issue when I tried to purchase W8 from allready installed W8 Pro.I used upgrade assistant with W7 compatibility applied and all goes fine.BTW:Upgrade assistant has blocked by the system but I unblocked it from properties in the same time with compatibility.
well, to my knowledge, my promo code isn't used..because no success order came through from the upgrade assistant. I can't verify if it is possible to use twice with different credit card, because again, none of my payment was accepted even though I can clearly see pending charges on my credit card accounts. I did the proper way, using Windows 7 to do the purchase
WooWoo... I got through... by using PayPal. The payment processor at Arvato Digital Services are screwed up...unable to process credit card payment directly. Their programmer needs to be fired
No, if you read my earlier post, you would see that I tried to get Windows Upgrade Support to process my credit card. They couldn't And it has nothing to do with Microsoft released the code.. Arvato is the one responsible for processing payment. Thus, the fault lays with Arvato.. Microsoft is partially blamed for choosing lousy Arvato as their provider for digital distribution.
I read. Believe me, if you tried to buy after calling microsoft would have succeeded (paypal=credit card). Arvato need to have access to microsoft servers to provide the Key.
I would love to buy a Windows 8 product key update for 14.99. It's about all the money i have right now However, i guess i need one of those "Promo Code" to get it for 14.99? How do I get a promo code? Is there anyone who has one over?
PaulDesmond, do you have any advice for someone seeking this discount? I was asked for product keys and provided from 2 different machines, and it did not work.
Hello everyone. I've just purchased the Windows 8 upgrade using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. I understand I can write the installation files to DVD/USB and install by booting from the BIOS and installing OVER my previous Windows 7 installation. However, I'd like to put my new Windows 8 installation on a new hard drive. One that has never had an installation of Windows on it. Totally blank. I don't think I can use the upgrade edition installation to do this, I have my legitimate product key. What do I need? Would using the product key with an MSDN ISO or RTM ISO work? Thanks.
You can. Download the installation files via Upgrade Assistant with your current system, then perform a clean install on the new hard disk. The important thing is to remember your new Product Key as the key is tied to the downloaded W8.
