First of all thank you very much for this method/app I have few questions regarding this Sideloading my system is old and doesn't meet the requirements of VM, so if i create another account as local account in my physical machine running Windows 8 Pro and purchase any paid app as trail using new fresh live id, would this be OK ?? we can't enjoy Xbox Game features (like Xbox Achievements) because it requires to be logged in and you recommend not to use live id ?? Redistributable means download and save a metro app in computer and later install it using your software ? (just like downloading any file from internet ??)
Yes, I know it is listed a free app, but that is really a fully working version with ads. To remove the ads, you have to pay. With ads, you will a small waiting time with ads and ads on the main window. Some apps will have this. The documentation doesn't make it clear that it doesn't work on these kinds op apps. So some apps have a different way of becoming a full non-ad app. This program doesn't work against it (yet). Kost made a excellent program and did amazing work on figuring the licensing from Windows Store out (and more). In my honest opinion I think that the first post and documentation must be updated with the information that it might not work on all apps. This way people are notified about it. And maybe kost will figure these different kind of apps out and update his program(s).
I'm beginning to think that some of you might have some mental disturbance... Pinnball is free, you have to buy the tables. In this thread and in the first post it clearly says that only trial apps can be 'just' unlocked. In conclusion: "Paid" Apps and DLCs would need to be downloaded (and so bought) first and than provided seperatly as the DL is only available in this cases when transaction is initiated.
Welcome to MDL, it's sad to say that many users on MDL are actually not very expirenced with PCs or really have ANY clue what they are doing and just came to the forum through google-fu for free stuff
@all thanks for your great "trail crack" works perfect on "Trial" Apps "Hydro Thunder Hurricane" on "Windows 8 PRO 64bit" Question: How i know which files from the above game was changed? Becouse i want it to implement on "Windows RT". I think i need some Files for the cracked trail App from Windows PC: c:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Studios.HydroThunderHurricane_1.1.0.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe\ and implement to "Surface RT" on: c:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Studios.HydroThunderHurricane_1.1.0.0_ARM__8wekyb3d8bbwe\ perhaps also some REG-Keys are needed, so where i can show the changed files? very very thanks
This crack does not change any files - in windows or in apps - but it opens possibility of such change (sideloading) Unlike stated in the news it does not modify anything in the system and do not modify apps. Not a single byte. News lie in that matter. I did not intend this crack for RT. I'm sure crack code can be used to unlock tablets also with some modifications - but it was not my target. I leave microsoft with their ideas on tablets and not going touch this area. Not because I cant but because I dont want to. I just hate they try to signature/DRM lock PC world. PC was always designed to run any code user wants. And its normal. Even apple does not drm lock their macbooks. They already have great sales. What microsoft did with RT on desktops - it was manipulation to force users adopting their new environment
Really, If microsoft left initinal pre-release idea of optional nature of metro/RT, left aero and start button offered choice - desktop only or RT - I probably wouldnt waste my time on cracking this.
Yeah, most likely. Dism does install the Media Center packages on Windows 8 Enterprise and Server, it's the licensing check that prevents it from starting.
mce is not only about the application and the one licensse value... which is also named mcesku if i remember right (don't have w8 running) changing than applying with dism might also fail, as the packages want to interact with licenses (about codecs and so on) with sppsvc which is than disabled or would bring back old values. maybe there is a slightly chance.. run dism with modded disabled values (initial) than enable sppsvc again and hope the timing is right. i tested some other approach 2 days ago with switching the brand, but unfortunatly this also didn't do the trick I wanted. approach: activated mce, switch some dll, check with wmic the edition (it was changed), apply sku xrm, chnage dll back. but this won't work.
but in the end than you would have mce edition and need other key and enterprise features are gone. it would only convert not apply in adition. maybe only install packages can run but with limitations like not licensed codecs and so on (as there are not in the tokens.dat)
Havent tried. I'm not excited from MCE. Prefer media player classic. Its enough for me Flipping PPE value is not everything. Yes it can have some effect on functionality but there're also files and registry settings. PPE can open theoretical possibility of using additional code otherwise locked. If you can move MC files and install them correctly with registry settings and so on - you will get it working i guess
I have some dumps (procmon and registry) but from rp version. The easiest way would be just to mount 2 wims, professional and professionalwmc and than compare the mount dirs. pretty easy i guess. or you log wit h procmon all createfile events, rip out the paths beginning with windows\winsxs. I know a/the way but I'm not interessted in extra work.
The point of using dism though is that it sets everything up that's required for a package, such as putting the files in the right places and creating registry entries and services.
