Unfortunately I dont know. But I'm sure By the time the time the timebomb goes off there'll be another build out there. But regardless for the purpose of collecting the build its an issue that needs to be handled. One way of getting around this (at least with my longhorn experience) is to change the bios date, to a time before the timebomb.
Just discovered how to run Skype in 7955: 1st: Go to Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Turn Windows featues on or off, check in the list .NET Framework 3.5.1, confirm. 2nd: Install Skype, close it and run it again in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
Is there now any solution how to disable the timebomb in 7955? We will have a problem on the beginning of july.
Installing Build 7955 on an Asus A6R hey guys, im trying to install build 7955 on a 4 year old (maybe 3) laptop with these specs: 1.6ghz Celeron M Ati Xpress 200M (old but capable GPU) 60GB IDE HDD 1GB DDR2 RAM from my netbook + the original 256MB DDR2 RAM (and the odd thing is, Windows XP and the BIOS reports it as 768MB??? It seems like the RAM is decreased by the amount on the original RAM :S) Now my problem is, I takes forever to load it, and I cant get to the oobe. I read this guy installed it on a Pentium III laptop, and he got past the oobe!!! how come i can't? should i remove the 1GB stick of RAM? (The 256MB stick can't be removed sadly)
Maybe your laptop mobo supports that much RAM only.Try removing the 256MB and check how much it shows for the 1GB one.Otherwise get another DDR2 from someone and test it.Are all drivers installed?Do a clean install. If windows 7 ran properly, them win8 should also work. But remember build 7955 will expire at the beginning of July.
Cannot Upgrade from Win7 Pro to Windows 8 Build 7955 Hi All, I have been reading this forum for quite a while now, and decided to make an account today. I have a problem. I want to upgrade my installed copy of Windows 7 Professional to Windows 8 Build 7955 . I have been trying to do this via USB (as I am using a netbook), but I get up to the 'what type of installation do you want' screen, click Upgrade installation (the screen showing 'checking compatability' shows up) and then I get an error message stating 'Windows 7 Professional cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2008 R2. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows Server 2008 R2..... and before that I got a message stating that I cannot upgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate - try using Windows anytime upgrade instead. Anyone successfully 'upgraded' to Windows 8 build 7955? If so how? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dean
